Why We Need You!

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Database team is a growing global team that partners closely with Product Engineering, Security, and Support. We are responsible for the reliability, deployment, and continuous operation of the Ivanti Cloud services. We need your help to take our existing platform to the next level.

Senior Cloud Database Administrators (DBAs) are responsible for designing, implementing, running, and optimizing Ivanti’s cloud-based database systems in a fast-paced atmosphere. These include both Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases.

What You Will Be Doing:

· Lead the design, implementation, and management of cloud-based RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess data requirements, design database schemas, and ensure optimal data architecture.

· Oversee database performance, analysing and optimizing query performance, indexes, and resource utilization.

· Develop and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for databases.

· Manage database migrations from AWS to Azure,

· Be familiar with database refresh activities.

· Implement and enforce database security measures, access controls, and compliance with data protection regulations.

· Manage database scalability, storage allocation, and resource provisioning to accommodate evolving data workloads.

· Automate database maintenance tasks, performance tuning, and monitoring using scripting and automation tools.

· Collaborate on database capacity planning, scaling, and resource optimization initiatives.

· Work closely with product development teams to ensure optimal database design and query performance.

· Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex database issues and provide effective solutions under pressure.

· Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior DBAs, fostering their professional growth.

  • Write documentation and training material.
  • Train other colleagues.
  • Stand up new database services in new and existing data centers.

· Participate in an on-call rotation for 24 x 7 coverage.

· Work shifts that may match up with the United States’ day and night shifts.

To Be Successful in The Role, You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with 4-7 years of professional experience.
  • Extensive experience as a Cloud Database Administrator, with proficiency in both RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and their respective database services.
  • In-depth understanding of database architecture, design, data modelling, and normalization principles.
  • Proven track record of optimizing database performance, query optimization, and index management.
  • Experience with implementing high availability, disaster recovery, and data replication solutions.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, and access controls.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation and monitoring tasks.
  • Proficiency in using monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, SolarWinds DPA, Redgate etc.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and guide junior DBAs, promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex database issues effectively.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, database trends, and best-practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly within a geographically dispersed team and across departments.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms and database technologies are advantageous.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work in Poland (Warsaw preferred).
  • Willingness to work non-standard shifts.
