What you’ll do:

  • Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for India, handling inputs, system entries, and deadline coordination.
  • Build seamless connections with HR, Finance, Treasury, and department leads to gather, validate, and deliver payroll data.
  • Lead payroll accounting, reconciliations, statutory filings, and integration with ERP systems (Tally, SAP).
  • Partner with actuarial experts for gratuity trust accounting and valuations as per Ind AS and US GAAP.
  • Collaborate with auditors and regulatory bodies, responding to payroll, statutory, and compliance queries.
  • Advise employees on payroll questions, settlements, reimbursements, and tax matters, ensuring clarity and confidentiality.
  • Design and drive improvements in payroll processes—enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and risk control.
  • Track and implement updates to labour codes and payroll-related statutes, partnering with Legal and Compliance.
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory returns, and maintain up-to-date audit documentation.

What you will bring:

  • 5–10+ years’ hands-on experience in India payroll, statutory compliance, and payroll accounting.
  • Degree in Commerce, Finance, HR, or related fields (B.Com, M.Com, MBA or CA-Inter).
  • Direct experience with Tally and SAP ERP systems, plus strong MS Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of Indian payroll laws—PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, Gratuity, Shops & Establishment, and state-specific regulations.
  • Experience in IT/ITES sector and/or a US MNC environment (preferred but not required).
  • Problem solver with analytical skills and a knack for continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communicator, team collaborator, and stakeholder manager.
  • Ability to keep sensitive data confidential and respond quickly to queries.
  • Working knowledge of the new Indian Labour Codes—an advantage.
