POSITION PURPOSE
The HR Business Analyst - People Technology plays a critical role in bridging the gap between MRI’s broader Talent team and the People Technology function. This role is responsible for partnering with Talent and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear, actionable specifications for the People Technology team. The HR Business Analyst will work hand-in-hand with the People Tech team to deliver comprehensive solutions and ensure that system updates and enhancements are communicated back to stakeholders in a clear and practical manner.
As a key liaison between talent and technology specialists, the HR Business Analyst will help shape the effectiveness of MRI’s People Technology Stack – most notably Workday HCM and Jira Service Management by ensuring business needs are understood, documented, and successfully translated into system capabilities.
This position reports to the People Technology Manager and collaborates closely with HR teams globally, requiring strong communication skills, a deep understanding of HR processes, a demonstrated interest in HR technology, and the ability to work effectively across multiple time zones.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Requirements Gathering + Translation
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders to understand pain points, process gaps, and system enhancement needs.
- Document business requirements in a structured way, ensuring clarity and completeness for the People Technology team.
- Translate complex technical updates from the People Technology team into simple, actionable insights for HR and business users.
System Enhancements + Optimization
- Support the evaluation and implementation of new system functionalities through strategic planning, documentation, and hands-on configuration work.
- Conduct impact assessments for proposed system changes, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Assist in testing system updates, providing feedback on user experience and accuracy of configurations.
HR Reporting + People Analytics Support
- Work closely with the People Analytics team to provide clean, reliable HR data for reporting and dashboards.
- Assist in generating Talent reports related to workforce trends, headcount, attrition, and engagement metrics.
- Support ad-hoc reporting requests from Talent leadership, ensuring data accuracy and clear insights for decision-making.
Process Improvements + Efficiency
- Analyze current HR processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements using technology.
- Collaborate with Talent teams to develop workflows that align with best practices and system capabilities.
Stakeholder Communication + Change Management
- Serve as a trusted partner to HR teams, helping them understand how People Technology supports their work.
- Critical: works closely with Shared Services resources in Global Delivery Centers to optimize MRI’s Talent Interaction Model and create a seamless experience for employees
- Create training materials and user guides to support adoption of system changes and new functionalities.
- Conduct information sessions and provide support to HR teams and business users during system rollouts.
Technical Support + Issue Resolution
- Act as a point of contact for HR users experiencing system challenges, troubleshooting basic issues and escalating complex matters to the People Technology team.
- Collaborate with the People Technology team to ensure quick resolution of technical issues and minimal disruption to HR operations.
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies, working with global Talent teams to improve data governance.
EXPERIENCE + QUALIFICATIONS
- HR background with 2+ years of experience in HR technology
- Strong understanding of HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement – coupled with an interest in process improvement through technology.
- Experience with Workday HCM, with a strong ability to manage HR data integrity. JSM experience is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and vice versa.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess data and process flows.
- Experience with HR reporting tools (e.g., Workday Reporting, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts in a simple and engaging way.
- Proven ability to collaborate across different teams and global time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Tolerance for fast-paced, innovative culture and high level of visibility across the organization
