The Thought Leadership Content Writer will develop and produce high-quality, insight-driven content that reinforces MRI Software’s authority and differentiation across global Proptech.
This role is responsible for translating MRI’s brand narrative, platform strategy, and market insights into compelling written content across a range of formats, including long-form articles, white papers, research reports, blog posts, executive bylines, and social-ready copy, spanning the full buyer journey.
Working in close partnership with the leader of Content, Product Marketing, PR, and regional teams, this role will help ensure MRI delivers a consistent, credible, and differentiated voice across global channels and audiences.
Success in this role will be measured by content quality, output consistency, audience engagement, and the degree to which content supports broader thought leadership, campaign, and pipeline objectives.
We understand the need to provide a flexible working environment partnered with team collaboration and socialisation. Therefore, we operate a hybrid working model with 3 days of working from home per week. This role is based in the Cape Town office.
Duties/Responsibilities
Content Creation & Execution
1. Long-Form & Flagship Content
Research, write, and edit high-quality thought leadership content including white papers, industry reports, guides, and executive articles
Translate complex topics, including AI, proptech trends, and platform innovation, into clear, accessible, and compelling narratives
Develop content aligned to MRI's key editorial pillars and campaign themes, ensuring relevance across buyer personas and geographies
Produce proprietary research narratives and data-driven storytelling that reinforces MRI's market authority
Ensure all flagship content meets brand, quality, and messaging standards before distribution
2. Always-On & Short-Form Content
Write and maintain a steady cadence of blog posts, opinion pieces, social-ready copy, and digital content aligned to MRI's thought leadership calendar
Adapt and repurpose long-form content into shorter formats for distribution across channels including LinkedIn, email, and web
Support campaign content needs by developing messaging, copy, and supporting assets across the buyer journey
Contribute to the development of email nurture content, landing page copy, and campaign messaging in partnership with Demand Generation
Alignment & Execution Model
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with PR to ensure content supports media and analyst engagement goals
Work with Social Media and Campaign teams to ensure content is optimized for distribution and amplification
Engage with subject matter experts, product managers, and regional stakeholders to source insights and validate content accuracy
5. Content Quality & Governance
Ensure all content adheres to MRI's brand voice, tone guidelines, and messaging frameworks
Apply consistent editorial standards across all outputs, including accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment
Participate in content review processes and incorporate feedback efficiently
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MRI's product portfolio, positioning, and key market narratives
6. Planning & Process
Manage personal content pipeline and deadlines across multiple concurrent projects
Maintain visibility into content status through shared tracking tools and editorial calendars
Flag capacity constraints, blockers, or quality risks proactively to the Director of Thought Leadership
Contribute to continuous improvement of content workflows, briefing processes, and production practices
7. Measurement & Optimization
Track performance of published content against defined KPIs including engagement, reach, and downstream impact
Apply data and audience insights to refine content approach and improve relevance over time
Provide regular input to reporting on content effectiveness and contribute to strategic content planning discussions
Experience & Expertise
3–6 years of experience in content writing, copywriting, or editorial roles, ideally within B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or technology sectors
Demonstrated ability to write long-form thought leadership content, including white papers, research narratives, and executive articles, to a professional standard
Experience writing for senior business audiences, including translating technical or complex concepts into clear and credible narratives
Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital content optimization
Exposure to content management systems (e.g. WordPress) and marketing automation platforms an advantage
Experience supporting executive content or ghostwriting preferred
Knowledge of the real estate, proptech, or enterprise software sector advantageous
Skills & Capabilities
Exceptional written communication skills with a strong command of tone, structure, and clarity
Ability to write in multiple voices and adapt style across formats, audiences, and channels
Strong research and synthesis skills, able to gather insights from multiple sources and shape them into a coherent point of view
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently
Collaborative working style with the ability to build effective relationships across global, distributed teams
Self-motivated and able to work independently while maintaining alignment to broader team priorities
Strong attention to detail and commitment to content quality
