Product Analyst III
About the Role
The Product Analyst III is an experienced individual contributor embedded within MRI Software’s global Product Operations organization. This role is responsible for turning complex, high-volume data into actionable insights that drive meaningful change across our engineering and product delivery teams. The analyst operates with significant autonomy — identifying areas of concern, forming a point of view, and engaging development teams directly to educate, influence, and drive improvement.
This is not a passive reporting role. The right candidate surfaces what the data is saying, builds the case, and sees it through.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently source, clean, and analyze large datasets across delivery, quality, and operational domains to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Translate analytical findings into concise, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences — including development teams, product managers, and senior leadership
- Engage directly with development teams to present findings, provide context, and facilitate understanding of the metrics that affect their work
- Design and deliver informal training or enablement sessions that build data literacy across the teams you support
- Operate with a high degree of self-direction; proactively identify the next question worth asking rather than waiting for assignments
- Track whether recommended changes have been adopted; re-engage teams when expected improvements have not materialized and document outcomes over time
- Escalate emerging risks or systemic issues with appropriate urgency and context
Required Qualifications
Data & Reporting
- 5+ years of experience in a data analyst, business analyst, or product analyst role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, modeling, and ad hoc investigation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, including data modeling, DAX measures, and dashboard development
- Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguous, large-scale datasets and extract meaningful signal
SDLC Awareness
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, including agile delivery practices, sprint cadences, release processes, and quality gates
- Ability to contextualize delivery metrics within the realities of how software teams work
- Able to interpret and apply engineering delivery metrics — including cycle time, throughput, defect escape rate, and test automation coverage — in ways that inform team behavior and drive measurable improvement
Communication & Influence
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
- Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders
- Able to hold a constructive position when challenging teams with data-backed observations
Atlassian Suite
- Hands-on experience with Jira, including querying, reporting, and interpreting delivery data
- Familiarity with Confluence for documentation and communicating findings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQL Server or similar relational databases for direct data querying and analysis
- Familiarity with Python or R for data wrangling, transformation, or exploratory analysis
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to write scripts, queries, or code used to extract, transform, or aggregate data — with the judgment to validate and take ownership of what those tools produce
- Exposure to version control concepts (Git) and an awareness of deployment pipeline practices
Competencies
- Intellectual Curiosity — Proactively asks why, not just what. Pursues the underlying story in the data.
- Narrative Communication — Translates numbers into meaning. Builds the “so what” alongside the findings.
- Constructive Persistence — Follows up with engineering teams without being adversarial. Comfortable being the person who keeps asking.
- Comfort with Ambiguity — Capable of defining the right question, not just answering a stated one.
- Organizational Awareness — Knows when to resolve independently and when to escalate.
- Cross-Cultural Collaboration — Experienced working in a global, distributed team environment with colleagues across multiple time zones.
- Self-Motivation — Manages their own workload effectively. Drives their own agenda based on what the data is surfacing.
