Assistant Business Controller
The Assistant Business Controller plays a key role in supporting the financial health and strategic decision-making of an assigned region. This position partners closely with cross‑functional teams including project management, billing, collections, relationship management, and sales to ensure accurate reporting of revenue, bookings, and cash collections. The role supports regional forecasting, variance analysis, financial planning, and both standard and ad hoc reporting, helping leadership understand financial performance and proactively address risks and opportunities. Working alongside other Business Controllers, this role contributes to driving financial strategy and ensuring timely, data‑driven insights across the business.
This role is ideal for a highly analytical, data‑driven professional with strong Excel fundamentals and an interest in process improvement and modern finance tools. The Assistant Business Controller will spend significant time manipulating large datasets, enhancing models and reports, and identifying opportunities to make existing processes more efficient through better structure, automation, or newer‑generation software solutions. As experience is gained, the role is expected to evolve toward more traditional Assistant Business Controller responsibilities, including deeper financial analysis, forecasting, and increased ownership of regional financial performance, offering strong long‑term growth and visibility within the organization.
Responsibilities
Responsible for reporting revenue, cash collections, accounts receivable maintenance and other financial metrics for assigned region
Partner with cross-functional teams including project management, billing and collections, relationship management, and sales to ensure accurate and timeline financial management
Work with other controllers to set and drive the financial strategy for the region
Assist with management of financial performance including bookings, revenue and cash collections
Create ad hoc and update standard reporting to secure closure of financial issues and sales opportunities
Provide input to the financial planning process
Support client alignment (Account management) as a finance partner
Perform regional forecasting and provide variance analysis of results relative to forecast
Contribute to and support the creation/maintenance of large data sets for underlying financial models
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
At least 3 years accounting and finance work experience including financial reporting, analysis, planning and forecasting
High level of professionalism with internal and external clients
Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across organizational functions and with diverse audiences
Preferred
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
At least 1 year business controller work experience
At least 1 year enterprise resources planning (ERP) platform such as Financial Force work experience
At least 1 year software revenue recognition and accounting for multiple element arrangements work experience
At least 1 year private and public accounting sector work experience; including “Big Four” firm audit
