As the SVP, WMP External Sales, you will be responsible for representing Orion in its wealth management sales efforts to promote its services to RIAs, Broker Dealers and financial institutions. This position is responsible for leading the wealth management external sales team in obtaining new clients for Orion and cross selling to existing Orion clients. In this role, you'll get to:
Manage team members within department including but not limited to hiring, training and developing employees, delegating work assignments, writing and conducting performance appraisals, salary recommendations, coaching and counseling, and administering corrective actions
Conduct one-on-one meetings with employees on a regular basis
Collaborate with external sales team in development, implementation and execution of territory sales plans resulting in increase in sales, as well as retention of those same assets to achieve sales goals
Work with the sales team to have them represent Orion and its products to advisors knowledgeably and effectively enabling advisors to clearly identify benefits of Orion products relative to its competitors; cross-sells products, e.g. OPS/OAT, as applicable
Provide on-going training and role practicing to external sales team on products and strategies, information systems, applications, and other operations
Ensure data is being logged in Salesforce on daily basis
Develop new prospects and capitalize on referrals in order to increase sales in territory; uses channels efficiently to build relationships
Ensure receipt of excellent customer service with advisors, including expectations are being met and managed with internal and external sales team members
Create and maintain critical contact relationships with firms involved in the distribution to the same market for referrals to the sales team members or clients such as clearing firms, trust companies, compliance firms, and technical advisors
Monitor, complete and analyze daily/weekly/quarterly sales goals and activity reports to ensure accuracy and to inform sales management of activities within territory in a timely manner
Ensure discretionary expenses and travel of the team member and as a whole stay within budget
Work with team to help them meet agreed upon sales activity goals
Attend and administer ongoing sales training to maintain current knowledge of all markets and industry developments
Work with the Sales team and Sales Operations to maintain and update the contact database including prospect information and activity in sales automation tools; maintains reports of existing competitor's products
Continually monitor each sales territory to maximize opportunities in each. This includes revising and creating new territories or channels where appropriate.
Establish team and individual goals for department
Attend and participate in development and sponsorship of conferences
Coordinate, schedule, and actively participate in quality appointments, whether onsite or for home office visits
Receive incoming calls, answer questions accurately and professionally and pre-qualify prospects (when appropriate) regarding Orion add on product and service offerings
Follow-up on appointments, demos, conference leads and referrals of qualified advisors to uncover business opportunities and accelerate sales process
Collaborate with marketing in planning event logistics including campaign setup, material distribution
Assist sales and marketing teams in developing an effective strategy, including key players and message delivered, to maximize time with prospects during sponsored trade shows
We're looking for talent who:
Has excellent knowledge of financial services offerings and company policies and procedures, including advanced knowledge of large enterprise firms and financial institutions
Demonstrates ability to interact, listen, influence and partner in a professional and engaging manner with high-level decision-makers
Possess leadership skills to provide a positive work environment, which encourages and expects teamwork, motivation, efficiency and maximum utilization of staff skills
Effectively influence actions and opinions of others
Speaks effectively before groups of customers or employees
Is able to adapt and implement changes as market and business conditions evolve
Consistently meets agreed upon performance goals
Has excellent organizational skills, superior time management strategies and the ability to work with minimal supervision from a remote office
Has strong sales skills required: negotiation and persuasion, up-selling, closing, follow-up, relationship building and networking in order to persuade others of the value of a product/solution
Has minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
Obtain Orion Industry Certification
Has minimum of 5 years of experience in a field-based territory sales position selling financial services offerings to large RIAs, large enterprises, or large financial institutions
Has minimum of 2 years of experience building and maintaining a customer account base
Preferably a Minimum of 1 year of management/leadership experience
Preferably experience in the financial planning industry
Owns and manages relationships with stakeholders directly and work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
