As a Product Owner II, you will be a critical member of the PDI Commercial & Industrial team, responsible for driving the vision and successful delivery of our point-of-sale (POS) portfolio. You will own the product and development lifecycle, working closely with engineering, processors, and internal teams to ensure our solutions evolve with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
This role combines product ownership, compliance oversight, and hands-on collaboration with acquirers, processors, and internal development teams. It’s ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys both strategy and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize the POS product backlog from concept through delivery, ensuring features are clearly defined and aligned with business goals and customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain a regular meeting cadence with PDI’s six supported transaction processors/acquirers; attend meetings and submit proposed updates for review.
  • Monitor and manage industry mandates, consumer credit and fleet payment method changes, and POS interface specification revisions.
  • Oversee and maintain test environments, including Merchant IDs, Terminal IDs, authorization endpoints/URLs, and test cards (monitoring expirations) to support ongoing UAT.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise on PDI’s C&I point-of-sale products (Attended & Unattended).
  • Track PCI compliance requirements, including SSF and renewal/revalidation timelines, ensuring audit readiness.
  • Support preparation of leadership-facing materials, including sprint summaries, IT development initiative updates, and PCI compliance status reports.
  • Assist in maintaining the Merchant Product Roadmap in Jira and PowerPoint.
  • Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria; manage backlog prioritization in Jira.
  • Perform Agile ceremonies including stakeholder backlog refinement, dev team backlog refinement, sprint planning, and daily scrums.
  • Conduct user testing sessions to validate features and provide feedback for improvements.
  • Partner with Customer Support to identify and address user issues.
  • Represent Merchant POS products internally and externally, including maintaining demo equipment for UAT, audits, and trade shows.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role, ideally with POS, payments, or consumer-facing applications.
  • Experience with payment processing integration and compliance management.
  • Familiarity with PCI compliance across cloud, device, and software.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience leading ceremonies.
  • Excellent skills in story writing, backlog management, and user testing.
  • Experience preparing updates for executive stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, or other Agile tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or in the future. PDI Technologies is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • As part of your role, you will be expected to build expertise in PDI’s products and ecosystem. It’s a plus if you already bring this experience, but training and support will be provided:
  • Develop and demonstrate working knowledge of PDI’s C&I point-of-sale products (Attended & Unattended).
  • Learn typical use cases for C&I POS and C&I Unattended solutions
  • Gain familiarity with supported payment processors/acquirers (credit & fleet).
  • Understand customer payment devices including cash registers, pin pads, and dispenser payment interfaces.
  • Complete entry-level PCI compliance training and demonstrate ability to distinguish between compliance areas (cloud, device, software).
  • Complete NCWM Certification for weights and measures.
