The Opportunity
Planview is seeking a Senior Database Operations Engineer I to join our Database Operations team. This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore.
This position will require 2 days in the office.
In this role, working closely with our database team, you will be supporting Plainview’s flagship Portfolio product. The ideal candidate will have a broad skillset and would ideally enjoy wearing several hats, working in a global team-centric atmosphere, dealing with a variety of projects, and handling tickets for internal and external customers.

What You'll Do
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide support to numerous database systems hosted in AWS.
- Collaborate with our Support organization in the resolution of support cases, developing and running scripts, creating SQL jobs, and troubleshooting database servers in a hosted environment.
- Responsible for diagnosing customer connectivity, configuration, and performance issues.
- Responsible for translating execution plans and recommending performance enhancements.
- Responsible for implementing alerts and monitoring systems.
- Develop support documentation, policies, and runbooks.
- Participate in on-call pager duty rotation and periodic weekend work with compensatory time off given with on-call plus weekend allowances.
- Identify opportunities for performance optimization, cost reduction, and improved system reliability. Suggest and implement enhancements where suitable.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, IT, and Security teams to support hybrid cloud integrations, ensuring seamless and secure operations across all environments.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related experience.
- 8 plus years of experience in supporting Cloud-based production environments.
- Strong knowledge of database technologies
- Strong working knowledge of SQL Server performance and health/capacity monitoring
- Extensive knowledge of writing Transact SQL, DDL, and DML.
- Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting and tuning SQL.
- Extensive working knowledge of administering Microsoft SQL Server, Analysis Services, Reporting Server, and other supporting products.
- Experience in automation and developing heuristic solutions using scripting languages like PowerShell and Python.
- Experience working in Cloud-Based environments such as AWS and Azure.
- Familiarity with applying AI techniques to identify performance risks and capacity constraints proactively.
- Familiarity with integrating AI-assisted automation to enhance operational workflows, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of monitoring and data collection tools to enable a proactive, data-driven approach to maximizing system availability.
- Experience with log aggregation and observability platforms for troubleshooting, anomaly detection, and trend analysis.
- Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging AI technologies to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and decision-making.
- Knowledge of monitoring and data collection tools will enable a proactive approach to maximize client availability.
- Collaborate on documentation, playbooks, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to research issues and new technologies and effectively communicate findings.
- Experience with log aggregation tools for troubleshooting and anomaly identification.
- Knowledge of high-availability technologies such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups and clustering.
- Ability to clearly communicate, work with others, and prioritize tasks and workload.
