Intro and job overview: Precisely is currently seeking a Data Scientist to develop statistical models focused on site selection solutions for the retail and financial services industries. The candidate will ideally have experience in location analytics. The right candidate will be an integral part of our talented global team, contributing to our continued growth. This position will be remote.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop sales forecasting models and various analytical solutions predominantly within the retail, restaurant, and financial services verticals.
- Identify/discern statistical relationships and interpret those results in a geo-spatial manner.
- Assimilate a variety of demographic sources, competitive data sets, lifestyle segmentation systems, and site-specific characteristics into creative client solutions.
- Evaluate the reliability of source information and organize results into a form compatible to conducting analysis.
- Assist in the production of reports and presentations for ad-hoc requests and client consulting projects & effectively communicate and document timelines, methodology, and results with client management and custom programming teams.
- Help to maintain data sets in necessary for this work.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics or other similar research field (Equivalent work experience will be accepted in place of the education requirement).
- 1-3 years experience in quantitative research; or equivalent combination of education and business experience capacity.
- Proficiency with coding in SQL Server, and at least one of the following: Python, R, SAS.
- Experience with geospatial analytics. For instance using a GIS (MapInfo Pro, QGIS, …) and/or spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server spatial)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task in deadline-oriented project work.
- Proven capability to work in a self-directed work environment in an organized and disciplined manner.
- Travel is required: No
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with site selection methods.
- Consumer Behavior analytics background.
- Familiarity with census demographics.
