Intro and job overview:
As an Associate Information Developer at Precisely, you will play a key role in creating, updating, and maintaining high-quality user assistance content for our software products. Collaborating closely with subject matter experts, product teams, and fellow information developers, you will deliver clear, concise, and user-friendly content that empowers customers to fully utilize our solutions.
In this role, you will proactively gather, understand, organize, and present technical information clearly. You should be adept at quickly learning new software and tools and working effectively with a diverse group of subject matter experts. Additionally, you will manage individual projects or deliverables with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and produce effective user-centered content for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and senior writers to gather information and understand complex technical concepts.
- Assist in updating the content as part of the Agile development process, ensuring timely delivery with product releases.
- Adhere to Precisely documentation standards and guidelines.
- Work on improving the Help Center to enhance content accessibility and searchability.
- Work with subject-matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and content appropriateness.
- Maintain plans and schedules for assigned projects, and communicate deliverables status, risks to deadlines, and escalations to manager and product teams.
- Maintain deliverables and incorporate updates and corrections, while maintaining structural integrity, procedural flow, and grammatical accuracy.
- Work with a global team of Information Developers and contribute to team initiatives, as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in technical communications, computer science, engineering, or related field.
- 0-2 years of information development / technical writing experience, preferably in the software industry (fresh graduates with strong writing skills are welcome).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Familiarity with the DITA standard, structured authoring, and single-sourcing techniques.
- Experience using an XML editor such as oXygen, xMetaL, or Arbortext Editor, or other industry tools such as FrameMaker or MadCap Flare.
- Basic understanding of Agile methodologies and software development processes.
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills, with ability to work well with other globally located personnel.
- Expert knowledge of the English language.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and other common application tools.
- Experience using a Component Content Management Systems (CCMS).
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Familiar with task analysis for a user-centered approach to content development.
- Familiarity with a source control application such as Subversion or GitLab.
- Experience documenting modern APIs.
- Experience using OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and GraphQL.
