Report to the office 5 days a week during training period.

The Opportunity

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for accounting duties including but not limited to accounts payable, vendor and employee platform management, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and processing semi-monthly payroll.


  • Obtain required documentation and set up new vendors in accounting system.
  • Verify vendor accounts, pay vendors, and resolve purchase order, invoice, or payment discrepancies.
  • Accountable for prepaid schedule; reconcile account transactions within the general leger.
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  • Maintain and file 1099s.
  • Data entry into spreadsheets and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Filter any field payroll related questions.
  • Resolve and research payroll related tax issues with payroll provider.
  • Reconcile employee deductions and other liabilities as needed.
  • Build and run custom reports.
  • Assist in month end closing.
  • Semi-monthly payroll duties.

Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with Accounting Software, Intact and preferred.
  • Payroll experience required; ADP Workforce Now and multi-state/jurisdictional experience preffered.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and payable principles.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and ability to prioritize diverse workload.
  • Strong organizational ability and a self-starter.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail a must, professional attitude, reliable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must have flexibility in schedule, especially during payroll and month end.
  • Effective corporate communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounts payable.
