The Cloud DevSecOps Database Administrator at RLDatix is instrumental in optimizing and securing the database infrastructure within cloud environments to support the company’s commitment to delivering safe and efficient healthcare solutions. This role focuses on enhancing database performance through meticulous tuning, indexing, and query optimization to ensure swift and reliable access to data across multiple cloud platforms. Security is paramount; the administrator implements stringent security measures, including advanced encryption practices, robust access controls, and continuous monitoring to protect against unauthorized access and potential data breaches. By leveraging modern DevSecOps methodologies, the administrator ensures that all database operations are automated and compliant with FedRAMP requirements. This strategic focus on performance and security enables RLDatix to maintain high database availability and integrity, which is crucial for managing sensitive healthcare information effectively.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain robust database security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats. This includes setting up firewalls, configuring database encryption, and managing database access controls.

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated systems for database provisioning, scaling, and management using DevSecOps methodologies to ensure agility and reliability in database operations.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines specifically for database schema changes, stored procedures updates, and other database-related modifications to ensure smooth and reliable deployments in production environments.

  • Obtain and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) certifications for services hosted under FedRAMP guidelines, effectively managing documentation and compliance processes.

  • Develop and manage robust database architectures to enhance system functionality and interoperability.

  • Develop Mulesoft, and REST APIs within a cloud-native environment.

  • Regularly monitor database performance metrics and use advanced optimization techniques to fine-tune the databases for maximum efficiency and minimum latency.

  • Develop and implement database monitoring tools that utilize machine learning to predict and detect anomalies. Coordinate rapid response efforts to mitigate potential impacts from identified issues.

  • Ensure that all database implementations comply with relevant data privacy laws and regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA, including data masking and anonymization where required.

  • Design and manage a comprehensive database backup strategy that ensures data redundancy and quick recovery capabilities across cloud environments to handle potential data loss scenarios.

  • Oversee and apply timely database patches and updates to address vulnerabilities, improve functionality, and ensure compatibility with other elements of the cloud infrastructure.

  • Work closely with application developers to ensure that the database environment meets the needs of software applications and supports new features and technologies effectively.

  • Utilize cloud-native tools and services to optimize the cost and performance of database resources. This includes implementing automated scaling policies and choosing the right database service based on the workload requirements.

  • Maintain a version control system for all database changes to ensure that any modifications can be tracked, rolled back, or redeployed as needed.

  • Identify and manage dependencies within the database layer to ensure compatibility and functionality across different modules and microservices within the architecture.

  • Provide training and mentorship to other team members on best practices for database administration, security, and compliance in a cloud-native environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Minimum seven years of experience in database administration, with extensive expertise in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Certifications including AWS Certified Database—Specialty, Azure Database Administrator Associate, or Google Professional Data Engineer.

  • Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, AWS DocumentDB, Apache Spark, and other relevant technologies.

  • Experience with data warehousing solutions like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.

  • Skilled in Python, Bash, and other scripting languages for database scripting and automation.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices for database code deployment and management.

  • Advanced knowledge of data security protocols and tools for data protection.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, especially under pressure.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and lead junior team members.
