Job Description:

Joining our Tax Team within our Fund Administration department in the Global Operations division means you will be a part of a passionate and supportive team that believes what we do matters to our clients and investors. We are seeking to fill two roles on this team - Senior Tax Analyst and Tax Analyst.

In either role, you will be responsible for the preparation of all US Mutual Fund and US Alternative Investments tax returns and the calculation of dividends to be paid from these funds. These positions also ensure that all mutual funds adhere to regulations outlined in IRC code section 851 and are taxed as regulated investment companies. You will work closely with other associates to apply all tax regulations in the preparation of tax provisions for various entities.

Salary:

Tax Analyst: $65,000-75,000

Senior Tax Analyst: $75,000-90,000

Specific compensation will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, commercial considerations, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Your Core Responsibilities:

Tax Analyst level

  • Preparation of all tax returns (Forms 1120-RIC, 5500, 8613 and 1065)

  • Working closely with external vendors (fund accounting, fund auditors, foreign tax agents) to ensure that information related to tax deliverables is on time and accurate

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual dividend calculations

  • Compliance and testing as it relates to IRC Section 851

  • Preparation and analysis of specific tax adjustments (PFIC, Wash Sales, Straddles, etc)

  • Preparation of shareholder year end reporting (Form 1099-DIV, supplemental shareholder reports)

  • Design, Develop, and implement process changes due to changing tax law or product initiatives

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly capital gain dividend estimates

In addition to the above, Senior Tax Analyst level

  • Managing the scheduling and preparation of all tax returns (Forms 1120-RIC, 5500, 8613 and 1065)

  • Scheduling and reviewing the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual dividend calculations

  • Coordination and review of quarterly estimated client K-1s

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred (or equivalent experience).

  • For a Senior Tax Analyst, 2 – 5 years experience preferred within the asset management or financial services industry

  • Certified Public Accountant preferred

  • Understanding of Internal Revenue Code and Federal Tax Regulations – IRC Subchapter M knowledge preferred

  • Understanding of fund accounting for mutual funds, partnerships and commingled funds

  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize and work independently

  • Solves and analyzes problems effectively, with a process for decision making

  • Has the ability to understand and appropriately apply principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise

  • Proficient with Excel

  • Proficient in VBA

  • Ability to communicate clearly and build trusted relationships with others

  • Exhibits ability to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm

  • Exhibits ability to be a collaborative team player with the ability to interact well with all levels of internal and external personnel and adapt to rapidly changing requirements
