Job Description:
A Senior Citrix Engineer will manage, maintain, and support Russell Investments’ enterprise on-premises Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) platform. You will provide Tier 3 support and work closely with other IT teams, business stakeholders, and end users ensuring reliable and performant operation of the CVAD platform. You will also have a deep understanding of the concepts and operation of core Citrix technologies and be highly skilled in troubleshooting complex problems and engineering solid solutions.
Years of Experience
5-7 years of experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of a global Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops site.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information System or 7+ years progressive experience with Citrix technologies in a medium to large organization.
Experience in IT service delivery using the ITIL framework
Citrix Certification preferred.
Data analysis using Excel
Knowledge of Server and Networking principles pertaining to enterprise environment
Demonstrated experience where operating as part of an effective team/relationship is critical to the success of your role
Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs and drivers with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence through service provision
Expertise in understanding, setting, and managing customer expectations
Skills in conceptualizing, documenting, and presenting creative service solutions
Strong technology subject matter expertise with the ability to recognize trends and innovate effectively, proactive approach essential
Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
Ability to understand, communicate and solve complex problems quickly
Responsibilities
Tier 3 support of the CVAD platform; serve as a 7/24 escalation point
End to end ownership of all Citrix components and their configuration at each layer of the Citrix model (User, Access, Control, and Resource layers)
Identify and implement technologies, service packs and hotfixes that address security vulnerabilities, improve reliability, system stability, and performance for the CVAD environment
Maintain the ‘Gold’ Virtual Apps server image; ensure ongoing component and application consistency across server tiers
Ownership and maintenance of Citrix related Group Policy objects
Ownership and maintenance of Citrix NetScaler
Ownership and maintenance of Citrix StoreFront and the Federated Authentication Service
Engineer and deploy application implementations and upgrades on CVAD
Mentor and train less experienced team members
Identify changes to the existing service to maintain technical viability, i.e., service remains efficient, effective, and integrated technically with strategic IT and Business direction
Provide input regarding scalability, capacity and performance as usage grows
Design and implement process improvements involving the CVAD service
Create SOP and KB documentation and content for support teams and users
Create and maintain documentation on existing architectures, standards, policies, and procedures
Participation in CVAD road mapping sessions
Open support tickets with vendors and work issues to completion to provide excellent standard of service. Escalate support tickets in a timely manner as appropriate.
Remain current with industry service and technology trends, costs, and strategies as well as Russell business drivers
Participate in other IT projects and/or tasks as needed
Candidate Requirements
Demonstrate deep knowledge and experience in the following areas:
Release Management process (requirements through prod implementation)
Change Management process
Effective troubleshooting methodology
Citrix Site configuration – Machine Catalogs, Delivery and Application Groups, etc.
Version upgrades to a Citrix site
Version upgrades to a Citrix NetScaler
Certificate renewals on Citrix infrastructure servers and NetScaler
Group Policy Objects pertaining to Citrix
Profile Management solutions (Citrix User Profile Management or similar)
Reverse engineering of applications
PowerShell – Citrix and AD cmdlets; task automation
Support of Microsoft Teams on CVAD
General understanding of DHCP, DNS, Hardware Load Balancing, and firewalls in an Enterprise environment
