Position Title: Associate Portfolio Manager

Business Unit: Investment Division supporting Shanghai

Reports To: Senior Director, CO-Head of Equity Portfolio Management

Role Summary

We are seeking an energetic, experienced and passionate investment professional to join our Shanghai-based WOFE team. This team will be responsible for the development and ongoing management of local investment products and solutions targeting both domestic and overseas investors. The candidate, as a member of the Investment Division team, will be a key contributor to the management of our PFM (Private Fund Management) products; while also contribute to the other investment initiatives and solutions that the team has and will develop. The role will functionally report to our Senior Director, Portfolio Management, as well as the General Manager, Shanghai WOFE, from a day-to-day management respective.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

• Work with the PMs to regularly monitor portfolios, prepare regular and ad hoc performance commentaries, reports and analysis; work with investment team to build and improve overall investment process and investment outcomes; run and interpret analytical software; run performance attribution on funds and manager components. Also work closely with portfolio analysts and portfolio managers in the broader equity team globally
• Conduct manager research on external strategies across asset classes and investment styles in the domestic market, applying the global manager research process and collaborating with global peers in the broader manager research team in this regard. Expected to produce recommendations on ranking of such strategies which will be subject to peer review.

The research process includes:

• Develop agendas and conduct effective due diligence meetings with investment management firms in pursuit of rank recommendations and investment decisions
• Provide timely, detailed, high-quality documentation of manager research analysis in order to communicate our investment views to stake holders including internal portfolio managers
• Participate in peer-review discussions and provide constructive feedback regarding analysis produced by other members of the team
• Participate/support product roadshows and client pitches if necessary
• Working closely with business unit to provide value-added strategies and services to clients

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

• 8+ years of investment management or similar experience in the local market; a proven track record of researching managers and strategies across different asset classes, and managing local multi-manager products is strongly preferred
• Strong investment decision making skills, financial analysis, strategic and theoretical skills are required; excellent mathematical, analytical and coding skills are preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative work environment
• Strong communication skills, especially as they pertain to communicating complex concepts, both orally and in writing to individuals with various degrees of investment experience
• Entrepreneurial spirit also needed
• Flexible and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin
• Fund professional practitioner certificate

Degree/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics or another related field required. Master’s degree and/or CFA preferred
• Overseas education and working experience is preferred
