Job Description:

A Senior Telecommunications Engineer will manage and maintain Russell Investments’ enterprise telecommunications system. You will be responsible for the implementation and support of an on-premises Session Border Controller (SBC) infrastructure which integrates with Microsoft Teams Direct Routing. You will work closely with IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our telecommunications systems.

Years of Experience

5-7 years of professional SBC infrastructure experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information System or 5+ years progressive experience in Telecommunications Services in a medium to large organization

  • Demonstrated experience where operating as part of an effective team/relationship is critical to the success of your role

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs and drivers with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence through service provision

  • Expertise in understanding, setting, and managing customer expectations

  • Skills in conceptualizing, documenting, and presenting creative service solutions

  • Ability to blend creativity, problem solving, and technical skills for refining existing theories or developing new approaches to seize opportunities and sustain business success.

  • Strong technology subject matter expertise with the ability to recognize trends and innovate effectively, proactive approach essential

  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs

  • Ability to understand, communicate and solve complex problems quickly

  • Occasional evening & weekend work is required to meet change management guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Tune and evolve telecommunications services, to facilitate a stable and efficient communication platform for the Russell lines of business

  • Administer, troubleshoot, and maintain Ribbon Software Edition Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and SBC1000 SBC appliances

  • Open support tickets with vendors and work issues to completion to provide excellent standard of service. Escalate support tickets in a timely manner as appropriate.

  • Remain current with industry service and technology trends, costs, and strategies as well as Russell business drivers

  • Participates in team meetings and assists with definition of systems design

  • Provides input regarding scalability, capacity and performance as solutions grow

  • Maintain documentation on existing architectures, standards, policies, and procedures

  • Identify and implement technologies, service packs and hotfixes that will improve reliability and overall system stability for the telecommunications infrastructure environment

  • Identifying changes to the existing service to maintain technical viability, i.e., service remains efficient, effective, and integrated technically with strategic IT and Business direction

  • Managing problem resolution remediation tasks for issues that arise with post-production use of a telecommunications product

  • Participate in other IT projects and/or tasks as needed

Candidate Requirements

  • Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to meet change management guidelines

  • Strong working knowledge of an Enterprise Telecommunications Infrastructure

  • Demonstrate deep familiarity with standard telecommunications protocols (SIP, TLS)

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Ribbon Software Edition Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and the Linux operating system on which these virtualized SBCs run

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Ribbon SBC1000 SBC appliances, including integration with ISDN PRI lines, SIP, and analog ports

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams concepts including Administration, Direct Routing, Voice Configuration, Auto Attendants, Call Queues, Voice Mail, Teams Policies, and administration of Teams via both the Graphical User Interface and PowerShell

  • Administration and troubleshooting of Skype for Business 2019 is a plus

  • Knowledge of Server and Networking principles pertaining to enterprise environment

  • General understanding of DHCP, DNS, Hardware Load Balancing, and firewalls in an Enterprise environment

  • Experience in IT service delivery using the ITIL framework
