Job Description:
The Portfolio Consulting Analyst is an essential member of the Portfolio Consulting Group (PCG), a team of investment professionals passionate about financial markets and the wealth management industry.
This role is responsible for supporting, creating, and delivering consultative expertise and analysis of Russell Investments’ comprehensive suite of model strategies, mutual funds, and separately managed accounts, our investment approach, capital markets thought leadership, asset allocation, and competitive landscape. This role is also integral in creating and presenting highly personalized transition analyses for our high net worth separately managed account program.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000
Specific compensation will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, commercial considerations, and other job-related factors permitted by law. At Russell Investments, salary is just one part of our compensation package. The ideal candidate will relish the challenge of synthesizing highly technical investment and portfolio management data (e.g., complex and large sets of performance attribution data for equity, fixed income, and real asset portfolios) into impactful and original insights for Regional Sales Teams to share with financial advisors, investors and executive decision-makers at national dealer firms.
This role requires excellent collaboration with the Portfolio Consulting Directors and business units across the firm, such as the Investment Division, Product, Sales & Service, Strategic Accounts, Marketing, Compliance, and Performance Reporting. As such, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of effective collaboration, a “team-first” mindset, a strong work ethic, the organizational skills and flexibility to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and initiatives concurrently, and a desire to grow their skills and knowledge.
The candidate can be located in Milwaukee, Seattle, or New York.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
Collaborate with PCG peers to serve as primary contact for US Regional Sales Teams’ and Strategic Accounts’ ad hoc queries for consultative expertise and analysis regarding the performance, holdings, positioning, and their competitive standing to peers and benchmarks.
Collaborate with Consulting Directors to create monthly and quarterly market and product materials (including presentations, commentaries, and blog posts), product pitch presentations, competitor insights, and conduct data searches and analyses.
Design, create or run customized analyses, proposals and transitions based on client situation.
Respond to ad-hoc inquiries, including index returns, data queries, competitor analysis, market trends, fund flows, product performance, etc.
Occasionally present various findings and topics to internal and external clients via meetings or webinars.
Provide career path and bench strength to the role of Consulting Directors (where applicable)

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences, including the following:
B.A. degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
CFA or progress towards CFA preferred
3-5 years of experience working directly with clients/ investors in either a consulting, sales, service , or analytical capacity
Strong knowledge of global capital markets, the wealth management industry, investment vehicles commonly used by financial advisors (e.g., mutual funds, model strategies, separately managed accounts), and investment process review
Proven technical and system skills (e.g., solid knowledge of financial concepts and performance measurement standards and the mathematics behind them; knowledge of Morningstar Direct, YCharts a plus; strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and related tools)
Proven analytical thinking, including exploring all sources of information and providing honest analysis for effective, timely decisions
Strong communication skills with team members, colleagues, and clients, and the ability to find engaging ways to explain complex concepts in a simple and easy-to-understand manner
Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple projects simultaneously in a team environment
Self-starter and prior self-directed work experience
