Associate Divisional Director, Internal Sales Manager (Canada)

Location: Toronto

Role Summary

This position will work closely with the Senior Director of North American Internal Sales, Divisional Director(s), and the broader Sales Leadership Team to lead the sales force in growing Russell Investments assets under management and expanding market share through partnership with financial advisors in various distribution channels (independent, regional, insurance, bank, etc.). The primary purpose of this position is to recruit, train, coach and mentor the internal sales and service team. In this capacity, it is the Associate Divisional Director's responsibility to plan, implement and execute internal sales strategies for Russell Investments. The successful candidate will also assume all compliance responsibilities for direct reporting relationships, facilitate cross role communication and coaching among all regional team members, and participate as a productive member of the sales management team in the strategic development of the Russell Investments intermediary sales strategy.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

  • Recruiting and hiring of sales professionals to build out the Russell Investments internal sales and service team
  • Coordinate/lead training initiatives for new hires and existing associates
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to the team in one-on-one coaching sessions
  • Provide guidance to associates on their specific career path
  • Ability to present Russell Investments value proposition in internal and external meetings, one-on-one and group settings
  • Responsible for partnering with the Divisional Director(s) to prioritize growth opportunities, facilitate team conversations, and assist with territory management strategies.
  • Participate in compensation design, planning and execution.
  • Engage with Marketing, Sales Enablement, and National Accounts on developing sales strategies
  • Provide compliance oversight as a designated principal for associates in matters regarding verbal/email communication, correspondence, entertainment policies, etc.
  • Travel Requirement: up to 25%

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • 10+ years within the investment/mutual fund industry
  • 5+ years in internal or external investment sales
  • 5+ years of sales management or as a sales team lead/supervisor preferred
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or industry designations preferred
  • Sales-related project management/process management experience
  • Advisory client/distribution client support experience preferred
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to effectively influence
