Job Description:

This managerial role involves overseeing the daily operations associated with supporting the MarkitEDM production, UAT applications, and User Interface. Leading a team of MarkitEDM support engineers based in the Mumbai office, the responsibilities include ensuring the seamless end-to-end processing of daily regional feeds, resolving workflow issues, reloading historical files, deploying changes developed by the MarkitEDM team, and troubleshooting issues raised by downstream consumers of MarkitEDM data. This position works in close liaison with MarkitEDM developers in London and Seattle troubleshooting issues with other critical business applications within the Russell Investments landscape.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide frontline technical support for the MarkitEDM application and User Interface, serving the MarkitEDM development team, data operations team, and internal consumers of MarkitEDM data.

In addition to MarkitEDM responsibilities, the role includes providing local oversight for all other Production Support Engineers outside of MarkitEDM. This role demands strong leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance, as well as the ability to foster excellent customer service and best practices among all team members. Success in this highly demanding role requires a blend of both technical expertise and soft skills.

Years of Experience

  • 10 + years technical experience
  • 3 - 5 years of experience managing individuals and teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, Finance or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience with MarkitEDM preferred, either in development or support roles
  • Proficiency in data warehousing and managing large volumes of data
  • Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks and best practices
  • In-depth knowledge of DevOps and Agile methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Ability to communicate technical details to all levels of management effectively
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues promptly
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in leading and managing teams
  • Effective at working under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Calls/meetings with Seattle and/or London outside of normal work hours

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the technology associated with the MarkitEDM application – including interactions with the Investment Division as well as other internal application consumers to provide reliable, scalable, and timely support of the production and UAT environments.
  • Providing change management oversight of the application as well as other dependent application changes.
  • Final change approval to the Russell production environment and ensuring all changes and processes are properly documented.
  • Ensuring internal data integrity which includes regional securities, positions, and pricing data loads. Also providing timely support of issues regarding long running processes, troubleshooting timeout issues with downstream consumers, and investigating data issues internally and/or with data operations.
  • Ensuring support coverage 24/7. This position will set up work schedules and rotations, as necessary.
  • Assist in managing the vendor relationship, including planning for, and organizing release updates, new installs, new equipment, and software requests in conjunction with Corporate IT, business unit staff and vendor contact.
  • Determining technology support needs and assessing availability of resources.
  • Coordinating technology efforts with Corporate IT and the business units.
  • Providing support to business units in troubleshooting data issues and reaching resolution.
