Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have experience in securities litigation matters including class actions, opt-in litigation and antitrust matters. This role will service Russell Investments’ funds domiciled in North America, Europe, and Australia, with the core responsibilities to include vendor oversight of class action claim filing, processing claim settlements, maintaining enrollment of funds with vendor, conducting claim analysis for opt-in litigations, document preparation, and supporting counsel through securities litigation case lifecycles.

Your Core Responsibilities

Class Action Oversight

  • Oversee claims filed by vendor to ensure accuracy.
  • Process settlement proceeds.
  • Liaison with custodians to satisfy transactional data reconciliation requests.

Opt-In Litigation Oversight

  • Collaborating with internal counsel and external vendors, analyze potential securities litigation opportunities, review case parameters, and complete feasibility assessments. Present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents, including retainers, funding agreements, and settlement agreements.
  • Coordinate custodial confirmations with regional fund operations teams.
  • Complete discovery and reliance questionnaires with aid from legal counsel and portfolio managers.
  • Laise with internal and external counsel on all case requests throughout the litigation lifecycle.

Program and Vendor Management

  • Oversee the performance and compliance of class action vendors, ensuring they meet contractual obligations and service level agreements.
  • Maintain records of each account’s enrollment with vendor.
  • Conduct annual SOC 1 reviews to ensure compliance with processes and deliverables.
  • Assist with vendor contracting renewals and negotiations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor-related issues and escalations.
  • Maintain policy and procedures.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Complete transactional data collection on an ad-hoc basis to aid vendor with the claim filing process and/or audit requests.
  • Analyze class action claims filed, settlements processed and opt-in litigation filings monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed annual reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Complete annual billing allocation analysis based on usage and ensuring prompt payment to vendor.

Your Expertise and Core Values

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in securities litigation preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of financial instruments.
  • Knowledge of judicial proceedings in various regions, including the UK, European Union, Brazil, Japan, US, Canada, and Australia, is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication and collaboration skills with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently; comfortable with ambiguity; ability to analyze and problem solve with little guidance.
  • Work efficiently under pressure; ability to adapt to shifting priorities and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Highly resourceful and collaborative team-player, with the ability to also be independently effective and to collaborate with associates at all levels and across multiple business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets in Microsoft Excel and basic Excel functions; Experience using Microsoft Word.
