Job Description:
As an Investment Operations Analyst, you will provide operational support and services representing Global Operations supporting successful outcomes for both internal and external clients. The operations team supports product operations, account opening, trade lifecycle management, reconciliation, systematic rebalancing and reporting across equity, fixed income, listed and OTC derivatives and foreign exchange products globally .
This position will primarily focus on supporting the full trade lifecycle, including Account Opening, Derivative Documentation, Settlements, and Collateral Management. The position will work closely with associates across Russell Investments including portfolio managers, analysts, and traders to help deliver precise and scalable operational support for account opening, trade settlement, collateral management, and maintenance of internal systems affecting direct investing strategies, new product launches, and 3rd party assignments.
Years of Experience
At least 3-5 years previous experience in the financial services industry, preferably in an operations capacity within an asset management firm
Qualifications
Ability to function successfully in ambiguous conditions
Organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and precise with numbers, with a solid understanding of the securities/fund industry as well as investment concepts and strategies
Familiarity with custodian, broker, and money manager operations
Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with Excel and comfort with database applications. Knowledge of SQL, VBA or Python is a plus but not required
Ability to adapt quickly and readily to change and embrace new opportunities
Intellectual curiosity to perform a “deep-dive” into new subject material
Responsibilities
Working with internal portfolio managers, analysts, and traders to ensure trade details are accurate and tied out with brokers, custodians, and vendors
Analyze data received from internal systems/clients, custodians, and vendors with an overarching objective of setting up the client's portfolio in internal systems
Work with FCM counterparties to establish derivative clearing accounts for trading instruments such as listed options, exchange-traded futures, and credit derivatives.
Respond to queries regarding derivative and FX documentation from various departments including the Investment Division & Legal
Negotiate with internal and external legal counsel on the documentation for implementing derivative-related counterparty contracts (e.g. ISDA, collateral control agreements, etc.).
Work with clients, legal teams, and internal stakeholders to analyze, consult and provide guidance to determine derivative contract requirements for each onboarding event.
Management of fund/client documentation including tax forms, prospectuses, investment management agreements, settlement instructions, etc.
Ensure Day-to-day operational responsibilities are managed, coordinated, and delivered to the core business clients.
Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve operational risk
Evaluate and improve existing operational processes and maintaining up-to-date procedures to reduce risk, increase efficiency, and support regulatory requirements and business initiatives

Candidate Requirements
Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with Excel
Prior experience with Bloomberg AIM or Charles River
Prior experience with trading and portfolio management systems.
