Job Description:
As a Business Development Manager at Russell Investments, you will play a critical role in the growth of the firm is the Korean market. Your primary responsibilities will be on identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and enhancing client relationships. Your focus will be on selling investment management services to institutional clients. Investment management services are defined as any and all investment activities which the organization may provide, e.g. active, quantitative, passive/index and/or hedge fund investment management. Sells separately managed accounts to institutional investors, which include plan sponsors (corporate, government, and/or union), endowments, and/or foundations. May sell additional products such as transition management and outsourced solutions. Reporting to the Managing Director – Korea, you’ll collaborate with a small local team of professionals while utilize global resources to drive success and growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage existing prospects: SEMA, K Biz, NH Group
- Manage relationships with asset managers to find out fund of funds opportunities.
- Open doors of new institutions such as Insurance firms, banks and Mutual aids
- Product specialist role: be in charge of a few Russell funds in terms of investment process, performance and contents of the fund.
- Support the Korea team with business development opportunities which include working on RFP for new clients and existing clients.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, financial advisors, and other key stakeholders.
- Create and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth.
- Collaborate with internal teams (investment, marketing, legal, etc.) to tailor solutions for clients.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
- Represent Russell Investments at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
To be successful in the role:
- Relevant sales experiences preferably in global asset management firms, or Insurance companies or Institutional investors (5~8 years)
- Proven sales experience.
- Strong knowledge of markets and participants in the market demonstrated through their previous experience in asset management (across either product development or fund management).
- Communication skills – understanding the context of the client and the understanding the context of Russell. Interpretation of what the client is saying/needing and how Russell can assist.
- Self-motivation –high level of personal drive, going above and beyond, looking for stretch goals. It is a small office and associates can wear multiple hats at times. The candidates need to be aware of this and enjoy the challenge
- Agility and Flexibility – working in a fast-paced environment with limited resources will require a candidate to adjust as required while achieving strategic goals
- Positive and proactive attitude
- Certified Investment Manager license (from Korea FSS) and/or professional foreign exchange license (외국환전문인력) is a plus
- Fluent in English and Korean (Proficiency in Korean language is the most important)
- Strong motivation in business success and Teamwork spirt is required
