The Work You'll Do:
As a QA Engineer III, you will work closely with Sovos customers and team members to ensure products and services function in a fully integrated manner, as expected by the customer. A QA Engineer III leverages Sovos quality best practices to improve team efficiency and product quality.
More specifically, you will:
- Identify areas for improvement regarding testing concepts and personal gaps, and proactively address them.
- Maintain QA best practices in high-pressure situations.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a product module.
- Fully engage in sprint planning to help triage and estimate stories.
- Always include automated tests in each test suite execution.
- Improve automated tests for efficiency and motivate the team to deliver high-quality results.
- Ensure automated tests are included in continuous integration.
- Ensure the team contributes to automated test stability.
- Participate in the onboarding process of new hires and assist team members in decision-making.
- Summarize and communicate acquired knowledge quickly and effectively.
- Communicate complex domain-specific topics, problems, and solutions to a varied audience.
- Determine how the Sovos organizational structure and roles can be arranged for productivity.
- Influence other product and tech teams, including Cloud Ops, InfoSec, Architecture, Org Readiness, and the UX team.
- Contribute to other products in the product workflow or lines of business and understand how they operate.
- Work collaboratively to meet agreed-upon deadlines on team assignments and commitments.
- Provide constructive feedback to team members and respond positively to feedback.
- Independently handle difficult conversations and recognize when to escalate.
- Provide clear information about work status and blockers.
- Encourage others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to address problems and opportunities.
What We Need From You
- Technical Bachelor's degree, or equivalent (3+ years) experience
- Ability to apply learnings to the team.
- Knowledge of multiple Sovos products and a deeper understanding of a specific product.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities using time management and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work alongside a developer to analyze the impact of tasks and expected outputs.
- Ability to analyze/research cross-impact on other products.
- Ability to combine useful exploratory/ad-hoc testing with pre-defined test suites.
- Ability to perform any type of test cases and complete troubleshooting.
- Set a positive example for others in terms of maturity and self-discipline.
- Understand how Sovos works and be open to assignments where your contribution is most impactful.
- Remain effective when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment.
