The Work You'll Do:

At Sovos, we're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Product Development team. In this role, you'll be a key technical leader helping to build and enhance our industry-leading tax compliance solutions that serve half of the Fortune 500 and thousands of companies worldwide.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll leverage your expert-level programming skills and extensive software industry experience to design, develop, and deliver robust, scalable software solutions that solve critical compliance challenges for our customers. You'll work with cross-functional teams to create software that enables organizations to stay ahead in a complex, ever-changing global regulatory landscape.

More specifically, you will:

• Maintain a high level of energy, enthusiasm, engagement and commitment to action in all technical initiatives and projects
• Design and develop complex software components and systems for Sovos' cloud-based tax compliance platform
• Demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to personal development and learning, staying current with emerging technologies and best practices
• Take full responsibility for ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction through high-quality code and solutions
• Demonstrate initiative, drive and determination to achieve results, success and growth in both technical implementations and team outcomes
• Develop trust and model open, candid, respectful communication and collaborative teamwork across development teams and stakeholders
• Interact effectively with teammates, colleagues and customers while communicating complex concepts clearly

What We Need From You

• BA/BS or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent industry experience
• 8-11 years of experience in the software industry preferred
• Expert-level programming ability in C/C++ or Java
• Expert knowledge of development environments, debugging tools, and source control systems
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) and software engineering principles
• Extensive relational database experience using SQL and ORM tools
• Experience coding multi-tier global-ready enterprise systems offered via SaaS
• Proven work experience on enterprise-level projects
• Solid understanding of Agile Methodologies
• Experience with databases (SQL, MySQL) and ERPs (Oracle, SAP)
• Ability to concentrate, analyze and resolve complex problems
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
