The Work You'll Do:
At Sovos, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial reporting, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and regulations. As a Senior Accountant you will help with the daily operations of the accounting department, ensure accurate financial reporting, and be a leader on the team to achieve departmental and organizational financial goals.
More specifically, you will:
- Be a leader on an offshore accounting team and ensure smooth daily operations
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial statements
- Manage and review key financial areas, including payroll & benefits, commissions, intercompany, T&E, cash, and fixed assets to ensure accuracy and alignment with budget and financial policies
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making
- Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach to handle changes in processes, systems, and priorities
- Play a key role in supporting the year-end audit process, collaborating with external auditors to provide necessary documentation, explanations, and adjustments
- Review Sovos' best practices and ensure all reporting is carried out in line with these policies
- Review, maintain and improve business controls, policies and systems
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Advanced degree preferred
- Licensed CPA preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive professional experience with public accounting and/or software industry experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Netsuite) and advanced Excel skills
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills, clear thinking and ability to prioritize effectively
- Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and work effectively with teammates, colleagues and customers
- Ability to comprehend and communicate complex concepts
- Detail-oriented with ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and processes
- Reports to US Controller and manages an offshore accounting team
- Primary office location – Remote with minimal (less than 10%) domestic travel required to Sovos locations and events
- Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
