The Work You'll Do:
As the Director of Tech Ops & Infrastructure at Sovos, you will provide strategic, operational, and programmatic direction to one of our lines of business through software engineering, IT operations, and infrastructure organization. As the business line's most senior technology leader, you will be accountable for the overall technology vision and delivery within the line of business, working directly with the Chief Technology Officer as part of the Technology Leadership Team.
More specifically, you will:
- Work alongside the Technology Leadership Team to develop strategy and supporting initiatives, track key performance indicators, and ensure technology plans are consistently executed within a dynamic business environment
- Participate in critical decisions as a member of the technology leadership team and build effective relationships with customers, senior executives, and key management personnel
- Lead and manage all aspects of software engineering, customer & user experience, software design, technology platform innovation, data intelligence, technology operations and infrastructure
- Construct reliable control and decision support systems, implement Sovos Best Practices, stay abreast of critical issues globally, and work with functional management to impact outcomes
- Review financial and performance data with management to achieve budgeted results and effect changes in software engineering and innovation functions
- Lead the execution and delivery of a holistic technology roadmap for products, capabilities, and services to achieve annual and long-term strategies
- Work collaboratively with other department heads in G&A, sales, marketing, and client operations as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness
- Develop a world-class technology organization within the business line, drive efficiencies across operational units and ensure exceptional client service experiences
- Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing talent and knowledgeable teams utilizing the company's proven selection methodology
What We Need From You
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of progressively responsible technology management experience within a global organization
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, business acumen, executive presence, and ability to empower others to achieve excellence and deliver results
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills to quickly establish rapport and credibility at all levels within client, prospect, partner and Sovos organizations, including C-level
- Track record of establishing best-in-class technology processes, driving improvement in roadmap delivery and use of innovation
- Appetite for continuous improvement and optimization; balance of judgment and logical analysis; ability to make difficult decisions
- Strong overall work ethic and tolerance for ambiguity with desire to operate in a practical, hands-on environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience implementing or adopting standards in a matrix setting highly desirable
