The Work You'll Do:

Ready to shape the future of sales excellence at a global compliance leader? As Director of Sales Operations at Sovos, you'll be the driving force behind a high-performing regional sales team, transforming how we deliver critical tax compliance solutions to businesses worldwide. Reporting to the VP of Business Operations, you'll lead a team that's not just selling software -- you're enabling companies across every industry to stay compliant in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

This role goes beyond traditional sales leadership. You'll be at the intersection of strategy and execution, building a sales powerhouse that understands both the technical depth of our solutions and the critical business challenges our clients face. From Fortune 500 enterprises to growing businesses expanding globally, your team will be trusted advisors helping organizations navigate compliance requirements that directly impact their ability to operate.

More specifically, you will:

  • Drive regional revenue growth by developing and executing strategic sales plans, setting ambitious yet achievable quotas, and forecasting sales performance for both existing solutions and new product launches
  • Build and develop a world-class sales organization through strategic talent acquisition, coaching, and creating development paths that transform Account Executives into compliance solution experts
  • Establish yourself as a thought leader by maintaining deep expertise in industry-specific compliance challenges and positioning Sovos solutions as essential business enablers
  • Orchestrate complex enterprise engagements by coordinating cross-functional teams, tailoring solutions to stakeholder needs, and ensuring strategic alignment throughout the sales cycle
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with consultancies, system integrators, and channel partners to expand market reach and influence vendor selection processes
  • Represent Sovos as a brand ambassador at industry conferences, tradeshows, and executive briefings, elevating our market presence and thought leadership
  • Lead with data-driven insights by analyzing market trends, competitive positioning, and sales metrics to continuously refine strategies and exceed targets
  • Champion customer success by ensuring both internal stakeholder satisfaction and external client delight throughout the entire customer journey
  • Foster innovation in sales methodologies, leveraging AI and modern sales technologies to enhance team productivity and customer engagement
  • Navigate complex RFP/RFI processes, positioning Sovos solutions strategically against competitors and articulating our unique value proposition

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • Minimum 5+ years of proven success exceeding targets in enterprise sales leadership, with experience in: tax automation/compliance solutions, Big 4 or Tier 2 consulting services, enterprise ERP software (Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft preferred), or complex business process outsourcing
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple complex, concurrent enterprise sales engagements with deal sizes exceeding $500K
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to articulate ROI, TCO, and the operational implications of premise-based versus SaaS solutions to C-level executives
  • Deep understanding of general accounting principles and sales & use tax compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Technical fluency in database architecture, application servers, and web server infrastructure to effectively engage with technical stakeholders
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building, motivating, and retaining high-performing sales teams in competitive markets
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels from technical teams to executive leadership
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution capabilities and a bias for action
  • Willingness to travel substantially (40-60%) for client meetings, trade shows, and team development activities, including international travel
  • Experience with AI-powered sales tools and modern sales enablement platforms preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in team building and leadership practices
  • Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
