The Work You'll Do:

As a Software Engineer II at Sovos, you'll be an integral part of our mission to transform global tax compliance through innovative technology. With 2-4 years of experience under your belt, you'll operate as a confident individual contributor while also serving as a mentor to junior team members. You'll help build and refine the solutions that enable half the Fortune 500 and thousands more businesses to navigate complex compliance requirements across 100+ countries.

This role combines technical excellence with collaborative leadership, as you'll work across teams to deliver high-quality code that powers our cloud-based compliance platform. You'll leverage modern development methodologies while contributing to our culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

More specifically, you will:

• Competent in SDLC and an active participant in all major activities (Planning, Stand Up, Story Time, etc.)
• Develop skills using TDD and CI practices
• Function competently as an individual contributor, completing relatively small tasks independently
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, Development Managers, Quality Assurance, Experience Design, and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs
• Participate on cross functional teams to deliver solutions from the point of inception through customer delivery
• Improve processes, standards and practices
• Work as a team member and with more senior developers on complex stories & tasks
• Pair program effectively with more junior & senior developers
• Leverage AI-powered tools and modern development practices to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality
• Develop programs consistent with Sovos coding standards & conventions
• Build skill in at least one specific technical expertise (Database, Web Development, etc.)
• Find and update relevant documentation when developing
• Able to triage and resolve simple engineering escalations
• Work with other team members to solve complex problems
• Collaborate across global teams, demonstrating open communication and fostering an inclusive development environment
• Capable of troubleshooting issues & bugs within their application of expertise

What We Need From You

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent software engineering experience
• English communication skills
• Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience
  • 2 years experience Typescript, JS and NodeJS
  • 2 years experience Java and AWS
  • 2 years experience PHP
  • 2 years experience APIs REST
  • 2 years experience database (MySQL)
• Experience in Azure DevOps
• Strong ability to comprehend and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Experience with modern development tools and CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical challenges
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies and AI-driven development practices
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across distributed, international teams
• Initiative and drive to achieve results while maintaining high standards of quality
• Energy and enthusiasm for mentoring others and contributing to team growth
