The Work You'll Do:

As a Consulting Manager, Unclaimed Property at Sovos, you'll serve as a Project Manager on client engagements focused on helping organizations achieve, maintain, and demonstrate compliance with state unclaimed property requirements. You'll lead projects including Risk Assessments, Policy and Procedure Reviews, Initial Compliance, Voluntary Disclosure Agreements (VDAs), and Audit Support.

You'll collaborate with Senior Consulting Managers on larger engagements, mentor staff-level consultants, and manage Complex Reporting Client work efforts. This role combines deep unclaimed property expertise with strong client relationship skills to deliver exceptional outcomes while upholding the highest professional standards.

More specifically, you will:

  • Maintain strong client relationships through written and verbal communications and assist with cross-selling services including transition to Annual Compliance
  • Develop project plans and set challenging personal and client service team goals
  • Discuss project deliverables with team members to ensure thorough understanding of expected outcomes, budgets, and timelines
  • Review and oversee services provided to Complex Reporting Clients
  • Review client records and documents to identify areas of potential noncompliance and risks
  • Document and review potential exposures via word documents and Excel workbooks
  • Work with Senior Consulting Managers to develop strategy for mitigating potential liability on client projects
  • Analyze and quantify populations to determine potential liability by property type using Sovos proprietary software programs
  • Perform quality assurance review of client due diligence letters and state compliance reports
  • Document risks identified in existing unclaimed policies and procedures and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Conduct client interviews of accounting personnel
  • Review and deliver deliverables needed for state voluntary compliance programs
  • Support discussions with clients, external legal counsel, state administrators, and third-party auditors related to audit support
  • Train Consultants and Senior Consultants in work efforts needed to complete client deliverables
  • Monitor project budgets in accordance with client proposals and engagement letters

What We Need From You:

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 6+ years of related work experience
  • 4+ years of related work experience in the field of Unclaimed Property Consulting including familiarity with various state unclaimed property laws and auditing techniques
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
  • Proficient technology skills, particularly MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel minimally (less than 25%) both domestic and international to Sovos locations and events
  • Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
