The Work You'll Do
As a Senior Software Engineer at Sovos, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development, testing, and deployment of complex software solutions that drive our global compliance technology. You will mentor and guide fellow engineers, foster a culture of continuous learning, and champion code quality across the department. Your expertise will help shape technical direction, support cross-functional collaboration, and ensure our products meet the highest standards. You will actively contribute to technical documentation and participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives, helping Sovos remain at the forefront of innovation in tax compliance.

More specifically, you will:

• Mentor and support the professional growth of software engineers
• Build a collaborative partnership within your Scrum Team while being a technical advisor to the Product Manager
• Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of robust software applications
• Serve as a technical advisor to Product Managers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX/UI, QA, and DBAs
• Champion code quality through peer reviews and best practices
• Integrate technology, process, testing, and business practices to deliver high-quality solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within your area of expertise
• Author and maintain technical documentation, release notes, and bug fix records
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by exploring new technologies and participating in knowledge-sharing activities

What We Need From You

• 8+ years of proven experience in software engineering with object-oriented programming and web application technologies
• 2+ years of technical leadership and hands-on team coaching
• Strong experience and knowledge in AWS
• Proficiency in full stack PHP/Python web development
• Desirable experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, jQuery, and React
• Strong back-end skills including SOAP/REST APIs, ORM frameworks, and SQL schema design
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
• Working knowledge of Linux/containers and web application configuration
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile, and fully remote environment
