The Work You'll Do:
At Sovos, we're transforming how companies around the world manage tax compliance -- helping half of the Fortune 500 and thousands more stay ahead in a complex, ever-changing global regulatory landscape. As a Regulatory Specialist on our EMEA Regulatory Analysis & Design team, you'll provide the research and monitoring support that keeps our regulatory intelligence current and reliable -- tracking legislative developments across multiple jurisdictions and translating them into clear, actionable insights for the teams building our products.
This is a role for someone who loves digging into primary sources, stays curious about how tax and technology intersect, and thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
More specifically, you will:
- Proactively and continuously monitor legislative, regulatory, and administrative developments related to electronic invoicing, tax filing, and related fiscal obligations across supported jurisdictions
- Research primary legal sources -- legislation, regulations, decrees, administrative rulings, and official guidance -- to identify requirements relevant to Sovos' products and services
- Analyse indirect tax filing obligations, return formats, submission deadlines, and procedural requirements in support of Sovos' VAT compliance and reporting solutions
- Prepare clear, structured summaries of regulatory developments and their potential impact, ensuring timely distribution to relevant internal teams
- Maintain and update internal regulatory tracking tools, databases, and monitoring dashboards to ensure comprehensive jurisdictional coverage
- Collaborate cross-functionally by providing accurate regulatory context to product, engineering, and other teams as needed
- Stay current on broader trends in continuous transaction controls (CTC), tax filing, and electronic archiving globally
- Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance research efficiency and ensure regulatory monitoring keeps pace with a rapidly evolving landscape
What We Need From You
- Strong research instincts -- able to navigate official government publications, authoritative sources, and get to the bottom of a regulatory question
- Comfort working with legal and regulatory texts, including EU-level instruments such as directives, regulations, and implementing acts
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- High attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approach to tracking information across multiple jurisdictions
- Ability to synthesise complex regulatory content into clear, concise summaries for varied audiences
- Self-directed learner with a genuine interest in the intersection of tax, regulation, and technology
- Highly collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire
