The Work You'll Do:
At Sovos, we're transforming how companies around the world manage tax compliance---helping half of the Fortune 500 and thousands more stay ahead in a complex, ever-changing global landscape. As an AI Implementation Engineer, you will build the AI and automation tooling that powers Sovos' global customer-support organization, taking ideas from zero to one and turning successful experiments into production-grade support infrastructure.
You'll be responsible for designing, building, and integrating the AI-powered tools, automations, and APIs that make Sovos customer support faster, smarter, and more consistent. Working closely with the Conversation Designer, Salesforce team, and AI vendors, you'll ship prototypes, harden them into production systems, and weave AI capabilities into Sovos' existing support stack---Salesforce, TheLoops, Ask Sovi, and internal analytics.
More specifically, you will:
- Prototype and build AI-powered tools, automations, and integrations for customer support use cases including agent assist, triage, summarization, and knowledge retrieval
- Take ideas from concept to working prototype in days---not months---using LLM APIs, MCP, and lightweight integration patterns
- Productionize successful prototypes: add monitoring, error handling, access controls, and documentation
- Integrate AI tooling with Salesforce (cases, knowledge, Experience Cloud), TheLoops, Ask Sovi, and internal data systems via APIs and webhooks
- Build reliable data pipelines that feed AI agents with clean, current product, case, and knowledge data
- Stand up sandbox and test environments to safely evaluate new models, features, and vendors
- Instrument every AI feature with the metrics needed to prove impact: deflection, accuracy, CSAT, and time-to-resolution
- Run structured evaluations of new models, prompts, and vendors; write up findings for support leadership
- Partner with the Conversation Designer on agent tooling, prompt files, and retrieval configurations
- Collaborate with the Salesforce developer on shared platform work including flows, APIs, and case routing
- Share patterns, code, and learnings back to the broader GSS AI community of practice
What We Need From You
- 4+ years of software engineering, data/analytics engineering, or solutions-engineering experience with a strong building track record
- Production experience with Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, including integrations against REST APIs, webhooks, and enterprise SaaS platforms
- Hands-on experience shipping at least one LLM-powered feature to real users (internal or external)
- Working knowledge of Salesforce APIs or willingness to ramp quickly---direct Salesforce experience is a strong plus
- Experience with SQL and analytics tooling (Snowflake, Looker, or similar) to validate feature impact
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or related field; equivalent experience accepted
- A builder at heart---you'd rather ship a rough prototype Friday than a polished spec next quarter
- Strong analytical instincts; you reach for data before arguing about features
- Comfortable in ambiguous, fast-moving problem spaces and able to operate without a PM spec
- Curious about AI but grounded---you can tell the difference between real capability and hype
- A clear written communicator who can turn a technical result into a one-paragraph takeaway for senior leaders
- Fluent English communicator, able to operate across US, LATAM, and EMEA time zones
- Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire
