The Work You’ll Do
As a Senior Accountant based in Mumbai, you will join a dynamic finance team supporting a newly acquired entity in India, part of Sovos’ global organization.
This role is ideal for a qualified Chartered Accountant with strong progressive experience who is ready to take on increased ownership in a global SaaS environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, statutory compliance, and process optimization, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the overall financial health of the business.
More specifically, you will:
- Supervise and review day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and journal entries prepared by junior accountants
- Review and approve sales and purchase orders, invoices, credit/debit notes, and vendor payment files
- Ensure accurate calculation and timely compliance of TDS, GST, and Income Tax liabilities
- Manage and file statutory returns in compliance with Indian regulations
- Oversee documentation for inward remittances (FIRC, BRC) and foreign invoices, ensuring FEMA compliance and coordinating with banks for Form 15CA/15CB
- Maintain and update accurate books of accounts in NetSuite
- Support monthly close activities, including trial balance finalization and reconciliations
- Implement and strengthen internal financial controls and support process improvements
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and resolve financial discrepancies
- Assist with statutory audits, external audits, and special projects
- Research technical accounting matters and prepare accounting documentation/whitepapers
- Mentor and guide junior accountants, supporting their professional growth
What We Need From You
Essential:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a SaaS or software environment
- Strong knowledge of Indian statutory compliance (TDS, GST, Income Tax, FEMA)
- Exposure to international accounting standards (US GAAP / IFRS)
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment
- Proven ability to mentor and supervise junior team members
- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems
Preferred:
- Experience with NetSuite or similar cloud-based ERP systems
- Exposure to technical accounting, research, and reporting
- Experience working with international teams and global finance operations
- Experience in process improvements, automation, and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Macros, complex formulas)
- Hands-on experience in month-end close and financial reporting
