The Work You'll Do:
At Sovos, we’re at the forefront of transforming how the insurance industry navigates regulatory complexity. As a Regulatory Education Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping how our customers understand and apply life insurance statutory and GAAP accounting requirements. This is a role for someone who is deeply knowledgeable in life (re)insurance, genuinely curious, and passionate about turning complex regulatory topics into accessible, engaging learning experiences.
You’ll serve as a trusted resource for clients, develop and deliver continuing education content across multiple formats, and help Sovos grow its reputation as the go-to education partner for life insurance professionals. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, love variety, and are energized by helping others learn, this role is for you.
More specifically, you will:
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with internal and external clients, providing a customer-focused experience throughout
• Deliver continuing education classes both in person and via webinar
• Develop new training content tailored to life insurance accountants, service providers, and related audiences
• Maintain and update existing course materials to reflect current trends and regulatory changes
• Answer technical questions from clients on life statutory accounting, GAAP accounting, and related areas
• Ensure consistency in the storage and management of the content library
• Collaborate with instructors to modularize existing content for delivery across multiple formats (live, web, self-study) and varying lengths
• Partner with Education Services Coordinators to set up private education opportunities
• Maintain working knowledge of the tools and applications used by the team to deliver content
• Build and sustain a strong collaborative relationship with the Director of Education Services
What We Need From You
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the life (re)insurance industry -- experience specifically in life insurance is required; P&C insurance backgrounds are not a fit for this role
• Life statutory and GAAP accounting and financial reporting experience required
• Experience with statutory and GAAP profitability patterns for contemporary life and annuity products
• Experience with life reserving methodologies such as principle-based reserving (PBR)
• Experience with equity-indexed products, XXX/AXXX reinsurance, variable annuity (VA) product guarantees and related reinsurance, and PBR for fixed annuities and long-term care
• Actuarial and/or life pricing experience is a plus
• Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities
• Proven ability to initiate projects and take responsibility for their timely completion
• Strong attention to detail with a track record of delivering accurate, thorough work
• Results-oriented, self-motivated team player who takes initiative
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to travel as needed within the contiguous United States (Regulatory Education Directors spend approximately 30 nights away from home per year)
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
