Technosylva exists to reduce the impact of wildfires by providing proactive and actionable intelligence. We provide wildfire risk mitigation software solutions for some of the nation’s largest Investor Owned Utility (IOU) companies, wildfire agencies, and other organizations. Technosylva's suite of wildfire risk analysis products are specifically tailored to meet the needs of electric utilities and government agencies, but are quickly finding traction with an expanding marketplace that will include transmission operators, insurance, and others. We enhance operational and mitigation decision-making with proactive risk forecasting, on-demand fire spread predictions, proprietary weather science, asset hardening analysis, and strengthen regulatory compliance & reporting efforts.

Technosylva has offices in La Jolla, CA, and León, Spain. The company has been providing critical solutions for the past 26 years, however the organization has been on a journey of transformation and rapid growth over the past 3 years, scaling to about ~100 employees and providing its product offerings in over 10+ countries. TA Associates, a leading growth PE firm recently made a significant investment in Technosylva to amplify the company’s mission and continued growth trajectory.

Position Overview

As a Solutions Engineer, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our technology and our customers' needs. As the leading technology expert reporting to our CRO, you will work closely with the product, engineering, weather science, and CTO to understand customer requirements, demonstrate the value of our solutions, and provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. This position requires a combination of technical prowess, excellent communication skills, and a customer-focused mindset.

Key Functional Areas:

Technical Expertise:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Technosylva’s products and solutions.
  • Represent Technosylva and present in person and/or virtual events as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to provide informed recommendations.

Pre-Sales Support:

  • Partner with the sales team to identify customer needs and tailor product demonstrations to articulate how our products can best address their needs.
  • Conduct technical presentations and demonstrations to showcase the value of our solutions.
  • Address technical inquiries and concerns from prospects, ensuring they have a clear understanding of our technology.
  • Collaborate with the sales team in crafting and proposals, defending documents to customers, and strategies for pricing to our customers.


Solution Design and Documentation:

  • Work with customers to assess their specific requirements and create customized solution proposals.
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to provide feedback on product enhancements based on customer needs.
  • Assist with scoping of the implementation effort required for each customer.
  • Ensure that clients have access to up-to-date documentation for smooth implementation and ongoing use of our products.
  • Be the go-to team member for the sales and marketing teams for account and global sales strategies.

Documentation and Training:

  • Create technical documentation, guides, and resources for customers, as needed.
  • Conduct training and ensure appropriate handover to the implementation and customer success teams to ensure effective customer service.

Feedback Loop:

  • Act as the voice of the customer, collecting feedback and insights to drive product improvements.
  • Detect and share cross-selling opportunities with the sales team as the need arises.
  • Share market insights and competitor analysis with the company to inform future development efforts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, ideally Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in a technical pre-sales or solutions engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies and integration methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Presentation and sales skills, and the ability to provide effective product demonstrations is important for this role.
  • ArcGIS experience, as well as selling into power utilities is not mandatory but it is preferred.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for solving problems and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings and events.
