About you:
This position is for a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Manager (BC&DR) to be part of our central compliance team. Reporting to the Group Information Security Manager you will play a critical role in helping Access Group develop its BCP and DR strategy. Working alongside operational teams in all locations where Access operates you will assist them in defining, developing, documenting and testing an effective strategy to help Access to prepare for and minimise disruption to our services in the event of a business continuity event. In addition, following and event or a test you will collate the learning and assist in improving the operation of the plans.
You will work closely with divisions that are currently managing business continuity through the ISO22301 standard and develop that into a companywide certification. Maintaining the requirements of the current ISO Business Continuity Management System (BCMS). Strong communication skills, relationship building, and an aptitude for picking up new technologies will be essential to be successful in this role. An outstanding IM should excel in multi-tasking and remaining judicious during Major incidents.
Day-to-day, you will:
• Design and develop and implement an effective companywide BCMS and its process suitable for all key business stakeholders, and to dovetail with the group's major incident management (MIM) process.
• Producing sufficient documentation illustrating the BCMS and MIM processes, ensuring all key stakeholders are competent and bought into the process.
• Plan and conduct business continuity related testing and tabletop exercises ensuring appropriate BC/DR outcomes in line with customer expectations and requirements.
• Working with key stakeholders to agree the thresholds for invoking the MIM process in any unplanned events, covering service delivery outages, business continuity events, security incidents and data events.
• Working with key stakeholders to develop and coordinate Major/Critical Incident management team in red/war room activity, planning and assigning recovery tasks as appropriate.
• Monitor and report on the return of operations to business as normal status.
• Collaborating with key stakeholders to discover Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective Actions plans to mitigate the risk of re-occurrence
• Recording evidence from all planned and un-planned IM activity, ready for external ISO management system audits
• Providing customer facing reports for all incidents classified as Major/Critical.
• Reporting on process output at a senior management level
• Adjusting BC&DR processes as needed to ensure their continued suitability and effectiveness.
• Whilst at the outset there will be no line management responsibilities for this role it is likely that a team will need to be formed to cover the wide range of work that it will involve. This team may be geographically dispersed, so the ability to manage at a distance will be crucial.
Your skills and experiences might also include:
• A higher learning education in Information technology, computer science or engineering related fields.
• Three years’ experience of working in IT Services management or in similar relatable roles.
• Demonstratable experience of owning and managing both BC & DR processes across large multifunctional teams.
• Experiences of matrix management and influencing outside of hierarchy and at all levels of the management and leadership structure.
• A strong knowledge of working with IT service management software, including ITIL v3 and COBIT
• To be highly approachable, open, and collaborative in nature.
• Firm when needed, but with a pragmatic approach to business needs.
• Pragmatic, competitive and driven to continuous learning/improvement.
