About you: An experience UX designer with a proven track record of driving UX strategy across multiple products or portfolios. The Principal UX Designer possesses deep expertise in user research, design, and testing, and shapes the UX vision at an organisational level in collaboration with other leaders. They are seen as an expert, influencing decision-making processes and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. This role is critical in driving strategic UX initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of user experience are maintained. Reporting into the Senior Director of Product, this role is an individual contributor role with the ability to influence the organisation in partnership with their peer, the UX Team Lead and Senior Director of Product. Scope/Responsibility •Demonstrating proactive leadership in planning and executing high-impact UX initiatives and managing multiple or complex work streams. Leading challenging projects autonomously, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs. •Delivering as an individiual contributor on specific, allocated products Demonstrating advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate and resolve ambiguous challenges. •Staying abreast of the latest industry trends and integrating relevant new practices into the UX community in collaboration with the UX guild and DesignOps team. •Identifying and championing UX opportunities that significantly enhance product experiences and drive measurable outcomes. Defining and tracking critical KPIs to measure success and drive continuous improvement. Day to day •Leading the UX process at a product or portfolio level, from discovery through to delivery ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs. •Building and maintaining strong customer and user relationships, developing advanced strategies for user engagement and recruitment. •Conducting comprehensive research to uncover deep insights into user needs, motivations, and pain points, utilising advanced user-centred design methodologies.Applying a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research techniques to generate actionable insights, ensuring high-quality and reliable research outcomes. •Demonstrating exceptional skills in interaction design, visual design, and prototyping, and applying these across diverse platforms and devices. Evaluating and refining existing user flows, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and rigorously testing new designs. Working With Others •Fostering strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, playing a pivotal role in decision-making processes from a UX perspective and acting as a UX advocate and strategic partner alongside the UX Team Lead. •Leading and facilitating engaging workshops and ideation sessions, both internally and externally, driving alignment and creative problem-solving with advanced facilitation skills. •Communicating design decisions and research insights clearly and persuasively, presenting compelling stories and well-documented findings. Leadership and Strategy •Driving major UX initiatives and improvements at a product or divisional level, influencing overall product direction and strategy. •Mentoring and coaching junior and mid-level team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. •Presenting and sharing work, processes, and insights with the UX community and the broader organisation, demonstrating thought leadership. •Contributing to the development of UX processes and promoting UX maturity within the team and the organisation.
