About the role:
You'll be a key contributor within our Finance Data team, playing a critical role in transforming financial data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. You will support a range of Finance teams, contributing to the development of vital company-wide reporting.
You will be responsible for collating, analysing, validating, communicating, and reporting insights and metrics whilst supporting the accuracy and integrity of our data. Your work will be in collaboration with other Data Solutions team members, data leads, business leads and front-line staff.
About you:
- You are an experienced Data professional with a growing track record of successfully implementing complex solutions that take an organisation towards its goals (financial or otherwise).
- You have an inquisitive and analytical mind, always questioning why something is happening and what it means.
- Passionate about data, clear communication, and reporting to enable data-driven decisions.
- You are eager to develop expertise in a financial domain, with either existing knowledge of financial concepts and reporting, or a passion to learn.
- You think about how your role contributes to the overall success of the company; this is one of your main guiding principles in decision-making.
- Experienced in working with software and technology systems.
- Proficient in using BI analytical software to deliver reliable and clear insights from data.
- Self-motivated, proactive, goal-oriented, and able to work autonomously.
- A team player who is resourceful, meticulous, and able to multitask.
- Comfortable with transparency, ambiguity, and change.
- You enjoy the “people aspects” of your role and form good relationships. You are trusted and respected.
Day-to-day:
- Work with stakeholders and leadership to scope and create reporting.
- Build, maintain and enhance reporting as appropriate for continuous improvement.
- Ensure data integrity and quality by regularly conducting audits and validation checks, working with the Data Management Office on data quality assurance.
- Collaborate on projects with technical and non-technical teams.
- Collaborate with a wider peer group community.
- Provide training, documentation and guidance to a wide reporting audience.
- Work in partnership with the Data Solutions team for improved resiliency and outcomes.
- Engage with users to understand actions, track outcomes and measure benefit realisation.
- Seek opportunities to find new insights and support root cause analysis.
Knowledge, Skills (and Experience) will include:
- Strong reporting experience.
- You are conversant with SQL and leading dashboarding tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
- Excellent understanding of data privacy and security relevant to a data analyst role.
- Ability to define user stories and product requirements and prioritise team workload according to stakeholder priorities.
- Excellent data analysis knowledge, including methods for investigating data quality, choosing appropriate summaries, developing meaningful KPIs from data and UI / UX.
- Ability to create clear documentation of data analysis processes and products.
- Great communication skills: able to deliver clear insights and communicate to non-technical business teams.
- Experience with working in a cloud environment.
