Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Team Lead to guide our growing teams in Kuala Lumpur. This role involves building strong partnerships with Managers in the UK and New Zealand, fostering collaboration across regions. You will drive talent development and champion best engineering practices within a geographically distributed workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Establish strong, productive relationships with Leaders and Managers across our products. Facilitate the sharing of best practices, coordinate technical dependencies, and champion engineering excellence throughout the region.

  • Team Development in KL: Focus on attracting, onboarding, and developing a high-performing engineering talent pool in Kuala Lumpur. Provide guidance, mentorship, and clear career paths for KL-based engineering staff within their respective product teams.

  • Operational Excellence: Ensure that the KL-based engineering team has the necessary resources, support, and alignment with other Leaders/Managers to ensure the smooth operation of the products. Drive proactive monitoring, reliability, and responsiveness.

  • Process Improvement: Partner with Leaders/Managers to identify and implement strategies for automation, quality assurance, and cost optimization within their teams.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Help guide the team in creating inclusive work environments for their globally diverse teams. Advocate for the KL team's perspective for optimal collaboration across regions.

  • Relationship Building: Foster a strong sense of trust and interdependency between the KL team and other engineering teams through clear communication and shared learning opportunities.

Day-to-day activities may include:

  • Facilitating regular communication channels and knowledge sharing between Leaders across the region.

  • Collaborating with Managers and HR to build effective recruitment and retention strategies in KL.

  • Monitoring engineering metrics and KPIs (DORA etc.) for the region, identifying areas for improvement and working strategically to drive positive change.

  • Implementing strategies to ensure consistency in engineering standards and practices in alignment with other teams.

  • Working with stakeholders to understand regional priorities and initiatives, providing a voice for the KL team.

  • Promoting a security-focused mindset across the region.

Skills, knowledge, experience likely include

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering, ideally within the SaaS domain.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple locations.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure or AWS) and DevOps practices is essential.

  • Expert in C# and .NET Framework, modern JavaScript frameworks, ideally VueJs or React

  • Passion for the growth and mentorship of engineers.

  • Appreciation for cultural diversity and ability to foster a globally inclusive workspace.

  • Familiarity with Supply Chain is a plus, but not a requirement.

  • Experience working directly with product managers.
