About you
We're seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to establish and maintain robust governance frameworks that drive accountability across our Finance function and wider business. This role will be critical in creating the metrics infrastructure that measures performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and targets teams to deliver better outcomes across our £1.4bn revenue business.
You will design and own governance standards, create performance metrics to measure teams and departments, and provide day-to-day leadership to the Data Assurance Analyst. This is a high-impact role requiring strategic thinking, strong influencing skills, and the ability to translate governance principles into actionable metrics that drive behavioural change.
Day-to-day, you will:
Governance Framework & Standards
Design, establish, and maintain the Finance data governance framework
Define data governance policies, standards, and procedures across revenue operations
Create and document data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models
Establish controls and governance checkpoints in key financial processes
Drive adoption of governance standards across Finance and interfacing departments
Assess governance maturity and develop roadmaps for improvement
Metrics Creation & Performance Measurement
Design and build metrics to measure performance of teams, departments, and processes
Create scorecards and KPIs that drive accountability and improvement
Develop metrics to target data quality, process compliance, and operational excellence
Establish baselines and targets for governance metrics
Build dashboards and reporting frameworks for performance visibility
Track and report on governance metrics to senior leadership
Use metrics to identify underperforming areas and drive corrective action
Team Leadership & Direction
Provide day-to-day direction and coordination to the Data Assurance Analyst
Set priorities and allocate checking work based on risk and business need
Review data quality findings and determine appropriate actions
Coach and develop the Analyst on governance principles and data quality practices
Conduct regular check-ins and provide feedback on performance
Stakeholder Management & Influence
Partner with Finance Analytics Lead and Revenue COE leadership
Engage with division controllers, FP&A teams, and operational leaders on governance topics
Present metrics and insights to senior stakeholders to drive improvement
Challenge poor data practices and advocate for governance discipline
Build coalitions across departments to embed governance culture
Act as escalation point for governance issues and metric disputes
Strategic Initiatives
Identify systemic governance gaps and design solutions
Lead initiatives to improve data reliability, process compliance, and control effectiveness
Evaluate governance tools and technologies to enhance capability
Support M&A integration with governance frameworks and metric implementation
Document and standardize governance processes to enable scalability
Your skills and experiences might also include:
3–5 years' experience in data governance, performance management, or business intelligence roles
Proven experience creating metrics and KPIs to drive accountability
Strong expertise in dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau)
Deep understanding of financial data and business metrics, preferably in SaaS businesses
Comprehensive knowledge of data governance principles and frameworks
Experience with revenue metrics and SaaS KPIs (ARR, churn, GRR, NRR)
Excellent stakeholder management with ability to influence and challenge senior audiences
Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate governance concepts into measurable outcomes
Self-starter with proven ability to drive initiatives independently
Experience working in global, cross-functional environments
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to establish structure in evolving environments
Preferred Skills
SQL and data modelling capabilities
Experience with governance tools and metadata management
Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
Background in performance management or business improvement
Exposure to modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.)
Project management experience
Experience managing or coordinating team members
