Position Summary:
Reporting to the Cloud Engineering Operating Systems Operations Manager, you will play a key role in supporting, maintaining and improving the infrastructure services we deliver to our internal and external customers around the globe as part of our 24X7 Global Operations Centre based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Patching Engineer is responsible for ensuring our services remains available, secure, cost effective whilst performing to design. This role is required to administer, support, maintain our global infrastructure working autonomously and collaboratively with our local and global team members.
You will need to apply your knowledge to manage and implement patching processes for our infrastructure, ensuring systems are up-to-date, secure, and compliant with industry standards. This role requires strong understanding of operating systems, Citrix, Backup, Patching and virtualisation technologies to ensure best practice configuration, performance and security is maintained. You will need to be able to work under pressure during customer affecting incidents to quickly restore service or determine effective work arounds.
This is an ideal role for someone who has a solid foundation in Information Technology, a thirst for knowledge, a curious mind and a desire to do more with their skills. This role also carries a strong need for service and SLA orientated thinking with a customer first mentality, and cultural sensitivity.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
Coordination, planning and tracking patch management strategy for infrastructure components including servers & VMs.
Able to work outside of core working hours when required
Ensure all systems are compliant with internal policies, industry regulations and security standards
Conduct thorough testing of patches before deployment to production system to ensure compatibility
Working with application support teams and security teams to identify and resolve issues related to patch management
Ensure monitoring is in place and functioning
Work on assigned Service Requests and Incidents within the documented SLA’s
Work within an ITIL framework to reduce customer impacting Incidents
Review workload to drive efficiency, move processes and technology towards automation and self-service

Skills, knowledge, experience & qualifications:
Experience with Windows Server and virtualization enterprise environment. Knowledge/experience with Linux Operating Systems, public cloud is an added advantage.
Proficiency in using patch management tools and software (Kaseya, Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, N-Able and ManagedEngine).
Capability to produce/amend PowerShell scripts.
Ability to coach other members of staff and impart knowledge in an effective manner.
Ability to work well under pressure and within given timescales.
Good written and oral communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Proven track record in ability to work to agreed targets and SLAs.
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
NOTE: This is a shift and on-call rotation role. You will be required to work on a rotation shift which will require you to be in the office and on-call from home.
