What your day will look like
Mission
As part of the Systems Engineering team, you will take on a dedicated DBA role focused on the operation, optimization, and continuous improvement of our database platforms:
Main Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the administration, stability, and continuous optimization of Microsoft SQL Server environments, including PostgreSQL platforms used within our customer solutions.
- Develop a deep understanding of the dependencies between applications and databases to continuously improve performance, stability, and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with other DBA across different continents to ensure consistent standards, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of database systems across cloud and co-location environments.
- Perform routine maintenance including patching, upgrades, backups, recovery testing, and vulnerability remediation.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, replication, and operational issues.
- Support software releases and deployments from a database perspective.
- Implement automation to improve operational efficiency.
- Work closely with Systems Engineers, DevOps, SRE and application teams to support database-related requirements.
- Collaborate with IT security and compliance teams to maintain industry-leading security standards.
- Participate in on-call support, incident resolution, and escalation management.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
- Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and operational processes.
What you need to fulfill the role
- Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments in production.
- Ability to work effectively in an international and collaborative team environment.
- Solid SQL and T-SQL knowledge including performance tuning, query optimisation, backup, recovery, replication, and high availability.
- Experience with modern database infrastructure in cloud and self-managed environments
- Interest or experience in leveraging Agentic AI and AI-assisted operational technologies for database administration
- Understanding of database security, access management, monitoring, and operational best practices.
- Strong communication, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn modern technologies and continuously improve processes through automation and standardisation.
- English speaking.
