Job Purpose:

The Senior Director of Data Engineering will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy that enables TouchTunes to leverage data as a strategic asset. As a key member of the Technology leadership team, the leader will lead initiatives to centralize data management, design and drive data platform and pipelines, ensure data governance, and foster a data-driven culture across the organization. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with experience in managing complex data environments, data engineering, analytics, and a commitment to unlocking the full potential of our data. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, people management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

Data Strategy and Vision:

  • Define and Execute the Data Engineering Strategy: Lead the development andexecution of a company-wide data strategy with a focus on building scalable, secure,and reliable data infrastructure to support current and future business needs.
  • Partner on Enterprise Data Vision: Collaborate across organization to create a unifiedvision for data, ensuring alignment between data infrastructure, analytics capabilities,and business intelligence needs.
  • Champion Data as a Strategic Asset: Advocate for data quality, discoverability, andaccessibility across the organization, educating stakeholders on the value of dataengineering and its role in enabling insights and innovation.
  • Align with Business Objectives: Work cross-functionally with executive leadership,product, engineering, and operations teams to prioritize and sequence data initiativesthat support strategic objectives.
  • Communicate Data Priorities: Clearly articulate the data engineering roadmap,milestones, and infrastructure investments to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Governance and Reliability: Establish standards for data integrity, observability, andplatform resilience, enabling trustworthy analytics and downstream data science work.

Technology and Data Infrastructure:

  • Lead the design, implementation and evolution of data infrastructure, platform, pipeline and tools that support scalable, high-performance data architecture using modern frameworks.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, lineage and availability for analytical and operational use cases.

Data Analytics and Insights:

  • Oversee the design and development of analytics and reporting platforms to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify key metrics and analytics that support business objectives.
  • Ensure the deep analysis of data to drive insights and growth.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing data team, including data scientists, analysts, and data engineers.
  • Promote a data-driven culture of continuous learning and improvement within the data team and across the company.

Data Governance and Quality:

  • Partner across the organization to establish and enforce policies and processes to ensure data quality, privacy, compliance, and security.
  • Create and maintain a data governance framework that ensures the accuracy, availability, and integrity of data.
  • Mitigate data-related risks and establish protocols to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Monitor and optimize performance, cost, and reliability of data infrastructure.
  • Oversee data cataloging, lineage, and documentation initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field; a Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in data management, data strategy, analytics, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of establishing and executing a data strategy in a high-growth or complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in data governance, data quality, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data infrastructure, data management platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on collaboration and influence

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex data challenges into business solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Expertise in modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, RedShift, BigQuery)
  • Expertise in data pipelines (Airflow, dbt, Spark, Kafka)
  • Strong programming skills (Python, SQL)
  • Expertise in Cloud data architectures (AWS, OCI)
  • Expertise in data modeling, warehousing, lakehouse patterns, AI/ML
  • Background in agile methodologies and CI/CD for data engineering
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in data management and analytics.
