The Vice President of IT Operations, reporting to the CIO, is a strategic and operational leader within our technology-driven organization responsible for developing and executing a technology vision that aligns with business growth. This role ensures seamless day-to-day operations—including server uptime, network reliability, help desk service, enterprise solutions, and IT security—while steering forward-thinking initiatives. This role requires a strong leader who can bridge the gap between technical teams and executive leadership, translating business needs into effective infrastructure technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Developing and implementing IT strategies that support the organization's overall business objectives.
- Staying abreast of, and evaluating, emerging technologies and identifying opportunities to improve IT operations and business processes to enhance scalability, security, and operational performance.
- Analyzing and refining processes to reduce costs, improve quality, and optimize efficiency.
- Serving as the main point of contact for IT Operation matters and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
Operational Excellence
- Ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day of IT Operations including servers, networks, enterprise systems, help desk services, and security platforms.
- Leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and data centers; maintaining high availability and uptime through robust monitoring, maintenance, and incident response processes.
- Defining KPIs, monitoring progress, and implementing optimization strategies, including tracking metrics like system uptime and network availability
- Developing and implementing plans to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster or other disruptive event.
- Overseeing IT Operations projects to ensure they are completed on time and within scope.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Managing the IT budget, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring cost-effectiveness of IT operations, aligning investments with both operational needs and security priorities.
- Managing relationships with vendors and partners, negotiating contracts, and ensuring service level agreements and security/compliance requirements are met.
IT Security & Compliance
- Collaborating with executive leadership and the CISO to integrate security-by-design principles into long-term technology roadmaps and enforce IT policies, security frameworks, and compliance measures, including DORA, GDPR, HIPAA, or other relevant standards.
- Identifying, implementing and maintaining robust security measures mitigating IT risks and ensuring operational processes meet or exceed security and compliance requirements without compromising business efficiency.
- Collaborating on cybersecurity strategy, threat prevention, detection, and incident response plans.
Team Leadership & Development
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of networking, server, security and help desk specialists and administrators.
- Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
- Providing coaching, career development, and performance management to ensure team members grow in their roles.
- Ensuring resource planning and workload balancing across workstreams, optimizing team efficiency and impact.
- Promoting cross-functional teamwork between IT Operations teams, IT Delivery, and other departments to optimize business outcomes.

Required Skills
- Driven to achieve results, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be required to make decisions based on sound judgment with information at hand.
- Deep understanding of server and network architecture, IT security, enterprise platforms, and help desk operations.
- Strong experience in managing budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic IT planning.
- Proven experience working directly with a CISO, or equivalent, to align IT operations with security strategy.
- Ability to inspire, mentor, and lead diverse technical teams.
- Ability to develop and implement IT strategies aligned with business objectives balancing innovation with operational stability.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred.
- 5+ years in progressive IT leadership roles, including oversight of infrastructure, security collaboration, enterprise systems, and IT operations at scale.
- 12+ years of relevant IT experience
- M&A experience strongly preferred.

The base salary range for this role, across the US, is $176,000 - $192,000. Your actual base pay within this range will be determined by your work location as well as skills, qualifications, experience, and relevant education/training. The range provided reflects only the base salary for the role and does not include benefits.
