Description
Summary:
The Spare Parts Interpreter will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and supplying correct parts to support maintenance and repair activities within the manufacturing, transportation, and logistics industry. The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant experience or training in automotive or parts interpretation, and proven experience in a similar role, with strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and interpret spare parts requirements through parts catalogues, manuals, and system databases.
- Process parts orders accurately, ensuring correct parts are sourced and supplied in a timely manner.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to confirm part availability, pricing, and delivery timeframes.
- Provide advice and support to workshop staff, drivers, and customers on correct parts selection and alternatives where required.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring stock is adequately replenished to meet operational demands.
- Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies, damaged goods, or obsolete items.
- Ensure all parts are stored, labelled, and managed in an organised and efficient manner.
- Assist with procurement activities, including raising purchase orders and tracking deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of parts issued, received, and returned to ensure inventory accuracy and traceability.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety requirements and report any hazards or concerns.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant experience or training in automotive, heavy vehicle, or parts interpretation (e.g. certificate in Automotive Parts Interpreting or similar field).
- Proven experience in a Spare Parts Interpreter or similar role within a manufacturing, transportation, or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle or equipment components and parts identification.
- Proficiency in the use of parts catalogues, inventory management systems, and computer-based ordering platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and parts diagrams.
- High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and data entry.
- Strong communication and customer service skills to liaise with suppliers, workshop staff, and customers.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to source alternative parts when required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to workplace health and safety procedures.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
