We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist with hands-on experience using Employment Hero/Xero. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensure compliance, and support accurate employee records. Fluency in Mandarin is highly valued to facilitate communication across diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple dealership sites, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in each pay cycle.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including contracts, pay rates, allowances, and deductions in line with company policies and Australian legislation.
- Process superannuation, PAYG tax, payroll tax, and other statutory obligations, ensuring full compliance with ATO and relevant state requirements.
- Calculate and reconcile complex remuneration structures, including commissions, bonuses, overtime, and penalty rates under applicable awards (e.g. Motor Vehicle Award).
- Perform payroll reconciliation and variance analysis, ensuring alignment between payroll, finance records, and operational data (e.g. sales logs / commissions).
- Handle payroll-related queries from employees and managers in a timely and professional manner.
- Work closely with HR and Finance teams on onboarding/offboarding, final payments, and payroll adjustments.
- Support payroll system optimization and process improvements, including involvement in system upgrades or integrations (e.g. Employment Hero, Xero, or similar platforms).
- Ensure strict confidentiality and data integrity in all payroll-related processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll processing, ideally within a multi-site or high-volume environment.
- Experience with Employment Hero, Xero, or similar payroll systems is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, and award interpretation.
- Experience handling commission-based or variable pay structures (highly desirable).
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage large datasets accurately.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
- High level of discretion when handling confidential information.
- Bilingual in Mandarin and English (essential for internal and HQ communication).
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
