Description
About the Role
We’re looking for a Web Developer to join the Marketing team and help deliver best-in-class digital experiences for our investors. Reporting to the Lead Web Developer, you’ll work closely with the Senior Digital Product Manager and Senior Marketing Executive (Website) to build features, maintain web platforms, and ship quality work across a multi-property web estate.
This is a hands-on execution role. You’ll take well-scoped briefs, deliver clean code, and work autonomously. You should be comfortable across the full stack but particularly strong in PHP, WordPress, and modern frontend tooling. We’re a team that leans heavily into AI-driven development workflows, and you’ll be right at home if you already reach for tools like Claude, Codex, or similar AI assistants as a natural part of how you write, review, and ship code.
Above all, we’re looking for someone with natural curiosity and ambition. The kind of developer who doesn’t wait to be given work, but actively looks for ways to make things better. You’ll thrive here if you love learning new technologies, aren’t afraid to try new approaches and take pride in being a reliable, safe pair of hands that the team can count on.
Role Responsibilities
Development
- Build and maintain custom WordPress features, themes, and blocks using PHP
- Develop responsive frontend components using Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js, and modern JavaScript
- Contribute to Laravel and Statamic projects across the web estate
- Integrate third-party APIs and ensure clean backend/frontend communication via REST endpoints
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following established patterns and conventions
- Follow secure coding practices and maintain awareness of common web vulnerabilities (XSS, CSRF, SQL injection, etc.)
AI-Driven Development
- Use AI coding tools (Claude, Codex, or similar) as part of your daily development workflow
- Leverage AI assistants for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and documentation
- Contribute to improving the team’s AI-augmented development practices and share what works
- Stay current with emerging AI tooling and identify opportunities to accelerate delivery
Platform Maintenance & Support
- Maintain and improve existing web properties across the business
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance issues, and cross-browser compatibility problems
- Ensure responsive designs work seamlessly across devices and browsers
- Support CI/CD pipelines and follow the established Git workflow (feature branches → PRs → staging → production)
Experimentation & Analytics
- Implement A/B tests and conversion experiments as scoped by the product and marketing team
- Support event-driven tracking implementations (Rudderstack, Amplitude)
Collaboration
- Work autonomously on assigned tickets – you’ll be briefed well, but shouldn’t need hand-holding
- Proactively identify and recommend improvements to code, processes, and tooling
- Collaborate with offshore development partners on shared deliverables
- Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders in the marketing team
Key skills and experience
Required
- 4-6 years of professional web development experience
- Strong PHP skills – WordPress and/or Laravel
- Solid HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
- Experience building responsive, mobile-first web interfaces
- Experience with Git version control and PR-based workflows
- Demonstrated comfort using AI tools in your development workflow
- Security-conscious mindset – awareness of web security best practices and common vulnerabilities
- Ability to work independently once briefed on requirements
- A self-starter mentality. Naturally curious, eager to learn, and motivated to find and fix problems without being asked
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly Valued
- Experience with Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js, or similar utility-first / lightweight JS frameworks
- WordPress block development or Twig/Timber templating
- Laravel and/or Statamic experience
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
- Experience with analytics or tracking tools (Rudderstack, Amplitude)
Nice to Have
- Experience working with or alongside offshore development teams
- Basic AWS familiarity (hosting, deployments)
- Understanding of SEO and web performance best practices (Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals)
