EW has established itself as a significant and influential player in energy trading and distribution. The energy sector is inherently complex due to its stringent regulatory environment. Energy products are subject to divers taxes, most importantly excise duties and varying regulations, with substantial government involvement in each member state. This complexity is further compounded by EW's operations (incl. in non-EU countries). Additionally, as a company listed on the London Stock Exchange, EW must be particularly vigilant about compliance in its highly regulated energy operations. Based on new operating model, the subjective position is to be re-established and hired within the frame of the Business Unit Energy organization. Qualifications:
Reporting line:
Direct reporting line within BU Energy to the Head of Operational Excellence,
Doted reporting line to the Head of Legal department, and Head of corporate taxation,
- Master degree in Law or Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Oil industry experience. Working experience as lawyer for OilCompany is a preference. Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy taxation, preferably within the fossil fuel industry.
- In-depth understanding of European energy taxation laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Relevant professional certifications are a plus - professional tax advisor certification is a preferred advantage.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in data analytics and process improvement methodologies.

- Advanced oral and written communication skills verbal in English, (preferred origin: Czech Slovak, Hungarian, Polish)
- Ability to set priorities and work under time pressure with can-do attitude
- MS Office skills, advanced level in MS Excel
- Stay updated on EU and national regulations affecting Energy distribution and sales activities (fossil and alternative energy trading), including licensing, emissions, and sustainability requirements.
- Develop and implement compliance strategies to meet regulatory standards and avoid legal penalties.
- Helping to review supplier contracts, advising and supporting the BU energy team during preparations. Align and finalize document control through legal department.
- Taking the lead within Energy unit to organize new market opening. Collaborate with Finance and Legal teams.
- Actively participate in establishing new EW truck Parks (called internally Broccoli sites). Review contracts, and collaborate with Legal and Finance teams.
- Collaborate in reviews and preparations in NDA management & Evidence
- Representing Energy department in external queries. During building sites, electric chargers, etc. Collaborates with the Procurement department.
- Develop and implement monitoring and measuring systems to ensure meeting regulatory standards and avoid legal penalties (BIO obligations, CO2 fulfillment, minimum deliveries, etc).
- Collaborates with other departments within Eurowag for the sake of proper data collection and fulfilment (Logistics, Legal, Finance).
- Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to ensure smooth communication and compliance.
- Identify and assess regulatory risks associated with trading activities and propose mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on regulatory compliance and best practices.
- In collaboration with Logistics, Back Office, prepare and submit regulatory reports and documentation as required by authorities.
- Follow up on Ministry/authority guidelines.
- Cover various areas related to BU Energy operations, including volume, CO2, BIO obligations, etc.
- Relationship management:
- with external partners, advisors, and other market players who are handling the same obligation.
- with associations, like Fuel Associations and FCE working groups, and analyses and working with information distributed.
- with external advisers (with superior's agreement) to meet local obligations.
- Represent the company in regulatory discussions and advocate for favorable regulatory conditions.
- Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to ensure smooth communication (Tax Authorities, Ministry of Finance, Customs Authorities), and with local external taxation experts, advisers (with superior's agreement).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant energy taxation laws and regulations across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's energy distribution position and find tax optimizing opportunities.
- Stay updated on changes in energy taxation policies and regulations and assess their impact on the business.
- Provide expert advice to senior management (Energy, Finance) on tax-related matters, including potential risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Every legal entity within EW processes personal data (employees, customers, also vendors,…). To get in line with GDPR we must keep the records what data, for what purpose, how we process, what is the legal ground for processing, what technical and organizational measures we take to protect the data,… This is very fundamental thing for every regulator and not to have means to „ask for“ very high financial penalty.
- Regularly track and manage all necessary licenses to ensure compliance and validity.
- Track and regularly monitor compliance with regulations for cross-country trading and deliveries to avoid penalties (e.g., CO2 emissions, biofuel fulfillment obligations).
- Continuously search for optimization opportunities in supply chains (e.g., price cap, bonification, bio regulatory, HVO, bio-LNG, UKR, etc.).
- Stay up to date with the latest regulatory changes and ensure the company adapts accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure all operations comply with relevant laws and regulations (Cross country deliveries, Licenses, Supplier contracts, Affidavit clauses, NDAs, etc.)
