At Wealth Enhancement Tax & Consulting Services (WETCS), this role supports our team in delivering exceptional tax services to clients. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing proforma and finalized tax returns, assisting with tax planning and consulting engagements, contributing to quality assurance efforts, and supporting day-to-day tax operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring or early-career tax professionals to deepen their technical tax knowledge and gain hands-on experience. The role is designed as a stepping stone toward positions with full-cycle tax service responsibilities and direct client relationship management.
Collaborates with other WETCS and WEG employees to improve individual and team expertise, effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction, and helps enhance the WETCS and WEG brands via high quality work output and professional, responsive, and respectful interactions with clients, WEG employees, and professional communities.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $55,000.00 to $67,500.00, exclusive of bonuses and benefits. This role is also eligible for our corporate bonus.
Primary Job Functions
Tax Preparation and Planning (~60%)
Prepare and review proforma and finalized tax returns under the guidance of experienced tax professionals. Client types may include individuals, trusts, private foundations, estates, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations.
Assist in the preparation of amended tax returns.
Support the review and response process for tax notices.
Contribute to the development of tax projections.
Assist in tax planning projects by analyzing financial data and identifying opportunities to reduce tax liabilities and enhance tax efficiency.
Collaborate with WEG Financial Advisors and clients to gather necessary tax information.
Support the WETCS quality assurance process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Tax Research and Analysis (~10%)
Conduct research on tax issues relevant to specific client scenarios.
Assist in interpreting and applying tax laws and regulations.
Stay informed on updates and changes in tax legislation and regulatory guidance.
Tax Operations (~15%)
Help collect and organize tax-related documents from clients and advisor teams.
Assist with document intake and processing workflows.
Contribute to the assessment of client tax complexity.
Provide general support to the Tax Operations team as needed.
4. Tax expertise and Professional Growth (~10%)
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax compliance requirements and best practices.
Develop proficiency in tax software, tools, and internal procedures used at WETCS.
Deepen expertise in at least one area of taxation annually through continuing education and self-directed learning.
Actively pursue CPA or EA certification.
Monitor trends and developments in the tax industry to enhance service delivery.
5. Team Collaboration (~5%)
Participate in organizational improvement initiatives.
Foster strong working relationships with WETCS colleagues and WEG stakeholders.
Collaborate with team members to enhance effectiveness, productivity, and team satisfaction.
Share knowledge and provide support to peers as appropriate.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaging team culture.
Education / Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Finance or Business; BS in Accounting preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in tax accounting, or a degree with a concentration in tax accounting or taxation.
Foundational understanding of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements, asset transactions, and tax documents accurately.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a focus on clarity, professionalism, and collaboration.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas and data analysis tools; experience with professional tax software, preferably CCH Axcess or similar software
Strong desire to develop into an outstanding tax professional.

WEG hires employees and makes decisions about their salary qualifications based on factors such as: the role to be performed; educational and professional experience, qualifications, skills and credentials; tenure, cost-of-living and demand for the role in the applicable market. To comply with state pay transparency laws, we must disclose the entire salary grade. The entire salary grade for those who are classified as the Lead level is $67,300.00 to $97,600.00. However, the base salary range bolded above is what we expect to pay as a starting range for this position.
